Pontoon Beach, IL (September 7, 2006) Three consecutive weekends of big racing events kicks off this Sunday at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL. This Sunday will feature the Season Championships for all five divisions that compete weekly at Tri-City Speedway! The points chase in all five divisions is still to be decided and this Sunday the track will crown five Champions.
Then, on Sunday, September 17th, the Sportsman, Street Stocks and Factory Stocks Nationals will take place at Tri-City Speedway. The UMP Sportsman division will battle for $1,500 as the winner's share. The Street Stocks will pay $1,000 to Win and the Factory Stock will pay $750 to Win.
The 2nd Annual Modified Mania will take place on September 21-23rd as the UMP Modifieds will compete in a big three night special. On Thursday, September 21st, an open practice for the modifieds will take place. The pit gate will open at 5pm and practice will be from 6-10pm. Both the 1/4 and 1/2 mile tracks will be available for practice. Then on Friday night, September 22nd, the modified action gets serious as qualifying for the big show gets underway. There will be two 15 lap feature events held Friday paying $500 to win each. The top two finishers in both of Friday's features will be locked into Saturday's $5,000 to win event. There will also be a live band and a BBQ after the racing action on Friday. Then on Saturday, the 40 lap, $5,000 to win main event takes place. The 40 lap feature event will also pay $50 to the leader of each lap. There will also be a $500 to win dash sponsored by Mullins Race Engines. Fastest time trial qualifier will also get $200 on Friday and Saturday night. The UMP Sportsman and Street Stock divisions will also be competing on both nights. All modified action will be on the 1/2 mile track and the Sportsman and Street Stocks will compete on the 1/4 mile track.
