Sprint and Modified class will be running for points Thursday, July 17th, 2008.
 
I personally think that this is crappy for the guys that work through the week and can't get home in time to go racing in the middle of the week like the sprint car guys that come from Illinois.

How many come from Illinois and are in the running for points?Pevely does this stuff every year,and on Wed. nites.but Farmington catches heck over it,go figure!

we have raced it twice and never have got points for it cause it has been ran under ump points. NOT SFCR

I just put the Illinois sprint car drivers on there for example but it's just as bad for the modified drivers around here that work all week so that they can race on the weekends. Some drivers have to go out of town through the week for their jobs. I could care less if they race during the week, but a week before the race they announce that it's for points, that's what I think is crappy.

Are the NASCAR guys going to take the quick-changes out of their cars and put Ford 9" rearends in?

The point isn't about how many come from Illinois...that was just an example he gave. I don't think anyone has an issue with them running during the week or for giving points. HOWEVER, if they were going to be running for points, that should have been a decision they made at the very beginning of the year (and had it on the schedule). What if a racer and his family decided to go on vacation this week????? And what if this racer was in the hunt for the points or in the top 5?? Would that be fair to him? If he knew at the beggining of the season, I'm sure he would have planned around it but ONE WEEK before the race is what I (and a lot of others) think is the crappy part. I always support SFCR's midweek shows and wish we had more (and I'm sure we would/could if they were a bigger success) but making it a points race one week before the event is my only issue. What if Jason Keith was on vacation in Florida or Brent Thompson? Or what if Mikey Francis was on a long truck route for work and couldn't be there??? Guys already give up almost all of their summer weekends to race (time away from family) and they do it b/c they LOVE the sport. If in 2009 they want to make it a points race...FINE! Just give people time to PLAN for it. All of this is just my opinion.
 
July 17 Race

I think its for a few of the local boys that have fallen back in the points race. This way no out-of-towners will be there to get in the way.
 
So since it's now a points night and (more than likely) more people will attend what is the cost for this event.

Anyone know what grandstand cost will be?

as stated earlier-will the quick changes be allowed????don't see how they could be on a points night

Drivers know about a double points night IN ADVANCE!!! Like I said, if this is what they want to do NEXT year, fine, as long as drivers know about it before one week in advance.
 
my 2 cents

i think it is good to run in the middle of the week as well, but the communication with everyone involved would be a plus..... the thing about getting points is great, but the most important thing is to have fun and be safe. has anybody ever heard of having 2 winners in a feature race? there was one this weekend in the multi class.....
 
Yes I do......

Hate to burst your bubble..... But in 2005 SFCR paid us for first after giving the win to Doug Savage... So yes I have heard of a track having 2 winners..... Sorry...:D:eek::D
