Inside Line Promotions - ROSSBURG, Ohio (May 13, 2019) - Tim Kaeding guided Sides Motorsports to a top-10 result last Friday at Eldora Speedway.
"It was the first time he'd been at Eldora in about five years so it was a pretty good night," team owner Jason Sides said. "For us it was like we were just there. We needed to be better earlier in the night with having a six-heat format since there were so many cars."
Kaeding qualified sixth quickest in his group and he won a heat race to lock himself into a dash. He advanced from fourth to third place before capping the night with a seventh-place outing in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series main event.
Sides laid down the 10th quickest qualifying time in his group, but a fourth-place finish in a heat race was one position shy of locking into the main event. That relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown. He placed fifth to transfer into the 23rd starting spot in the main event.
"I got going decent on the bottom, but it seemed like the leaders came by on the top fairly quickly," he said. "It's tricky because you don't want to mess up their race, but momentum is so important at Eldora that when you get out of line or slow down at all it allows people you are racing with by. We lost a couple of positions that way."
Sides ended with a 20th-place result.
Saturday's show rained out.
Sides has a busy week on tap beginning Wednesday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., for the Gettysburg Clash presented by Drydene. The action shifts to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., for the Morgan Cup on Friday and Saturday. Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y., hosts the Empire State Challenge on Sunday.
