Tim Montgomery "perfect" during Speed Week

FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (June 19, 2004) Timmy Montgomery of Fredericktown, Mo. capped off a perfect race week after winning the sprint car feature race at the St. Francois County Raceway. It was the Missouri/Illinois Challenge "Speed Week" with races at I-55 Raceway in Pevely on Wednesday, Farmer City, Ill. on Thursday, Jacksonville, Ill. on Friday before concluding at Farmington on Saturday. Following a rainout of the races on Wednesday, the veteran racer picked up back-to-back-to-back feature wins for the perfect week.
Montgomery took the checkered flag Saturday at Farmington followed by Jerrod Hull of Sikeston in second place, Korey Weyant third, Terry Babb fourth and Jimmy Hurley fifth. They were followed by Keith Burch, Tommy Worley Jr., Jason Keith, Ronnie Standridge and Jason Hunt. Weyant won the first heat race with Joey Montgomery second and Hurley third. Hull won the second heat with Babb second and Paul Patterson third. Timmy Montgomery won the third heat with Robbie Standridge second and Worley Jr. third. Burch won the fourth heat with John Epperson second and Kent Buckley third. Joey Montgomery won the trophy dash with Timmy Montgomery second and Babb third. Bryan Matthews won the "B" main with Ronnie Standridge second and Steve Short third.
In the 600cc Multi class, Dustin Barks of Farmington was the feature winner with Casey Barnhouse second, Jimmy Bridgeman third, Tommy Boyd fourth and Junior Ferguson fifth. They were followed by Brian Keen, Eric Giessing, Matt Dotson, Mark Gass and Jeremy Boyer. Barnhouse won the first heat with Ferguson second and Keen third. Barks won the second heat with Joey Boyd second and Bridgeman third. Ray Statler won the third heat with Giessing second and Dotson third.
In the Modified class, Billy "the Kid" Smith of Park Hills picked up another feature win by holding off the charge of Timmy Hill for the victory. Hill settled for second place with Kenny Kennedy third, Jeremy Greenwalt fourth and John Bohn fifth. They were followed by Adam Parmeley, Jim Fischer, Richie Standridge, Kevin Gegg and Kevin Hulsey. Hill won the first heat with Kasey Burch second and Joe Giesler third. Mike Crader won the second heat with Brad Long second and Leo Kiefer third. Kennedy won the third heat with Mike Francis second and Smith third.
In the Sportsmen class, Chuck Adams of Piedmont was the feature winner with Kenny Harris second, Chris Boyd third, Kasey Nations fourth and Kevin Mosier fifth. They were followed by Matt Eaton, Doug Savage, Charles Adams, Leonard Betsch and Jim Abshir. Mosier won the first heat with Abshir second and Jason Keller third. Chuck Adams won the second heat with Harris second and Eaton third. Boyd won the third heat with Nations second and Savage third.
Racing action at the St. Francois County Raceway will continue this Saturday night with all four classes participating. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7:30. This Saturday night will be Steak N' Shake Night.
