Why Dont The Track Run Ministocks I Know We Are A Slower Class But We Only Have Two Tracks To Run That Is Worth A Crap.and One Of Them Is 2 Hours Away I Know That The Class Would Bring More People To The Stands.i Ran Your Track Last Year And Wanted To Run It Again After I Changed Gears But Got Rained Out.i Loved The Track And It Is Close To My House.a Ministock V6 Class Would Be Hot And There Would Be Alot Of Them!!! 14 To 18 Cars In The Class Show Up At Doe Run Every Friday Night.

You could probably get the 14-18 cars a night with a 4cylinder but that many with a V6 would not be realistic.

We (the ministocks) were told that we couldn't have a night at SFCR this year because of the fact that they are no running 5 classes a night on a weekly basis. Adding another class here or there a night would make for 6 classes and make the night too long. I know ALOT of the RAMS members want a night at SFCR, but it just doesn't seem possible in 2005. Since they are getting rid of the Sportsmen in 2006, will they be adding another class or just racing with 4 classes on a weekly basis?

They will be racing four classes only in 2006 on a regular basis. Running just the four classes will give us more flexability in our schedule to do extra things.

Why close the track when WOO at Pevely? Why not run a regular show and add the latemodels in place of sprints? People from Pevely would travel to the Farm to catch good racing. Something to think about next year, couldn't hurt!

"Why close the track when WOO at Pevely?"

Interesting question. I always just assumed that the track management's assumption was there would be no crowd or sprint cars at SFCR since they'd all be at Pevely. And maybe they are right. BUT, I, for one, drive right past Pevely everytime I come to SFCR. Frankly, I don't like all the dust and mud at I-55 and $35-40 for a ticket to the WoO show is just more than I think its worth. Perhaps others feel the same way. A late model show at SFCR when the WoO is at Pevely? Yeah, that might work.

Doesn't sound like alot of SFCR sprints went to the WOO show, but alot of them took advantage of the off time to go to other places. If presented right, they could probably be convinced to stay at home should there be a show. Kinda hurts the other classes when this happens. We got some close races in several classes for points and with all the time off the next couple of weeks and throw in a rainout or two and it could go out with a wimper! Not too exciting for the fans or competitors! These people come religiously to see racing not to sit at home for a month!

I could be wrong but, I believe the reason they close for I-55's WOO is due to a agreement between Kenny Schrader and Corey & Jill. If SFC closes for I-55's WOO then Kenny along with the UMP late models will race a special show on Tuesday August 16 (Now due to rain on Tuesday July 12).
The old you help me and I will help you! I think it works out better when tracks work things out instead of cutting each others throut.

another thing on why they close when WOo are there they the owner and operators get in free and that agreement was made long before cory or mountgomrey ever started running the track.

It would be nice to hear it from Corey or Jill, just to be sure!

Did you ever stop and think that maybe Cory and Jill just wanted a night off?:D 36mmracer is correct about that, but I don't know if that still stands with the new current owners. It has been done like that in the past because of a verbal agreement with Ray Marler that SFCR doesn't race UMP and I-55 won't race sprints, that way one won't take away from the other. They have tried to compete with the WoO show a couple times in the past, but I don't think that they had the turnout that they had hoped for. For every 5 people that don't like having Farmington closed for that night, there are 5 people that like being able to sneak away and watch the show.

I have heard alot of peole say that it is a paid off deal, an agreement, that in exchange for not racing that nite that SFCR gets a deal on Schraders appearence for the midweek UMP show, and a few other stories.

I do know that I have said many times myself that it would be a great idea for SFCR to run thier normal support classes and UMP latemodels on those two saturday nites. I definately would go, even if my car was broke.

I really can not see how it would really be two shows in direct competition with each other, most of the SFCR regular fans who would go to SFCR that nite do something besides go to the races those nites, and the normal I-55 fans who would go to SFCR that nite usually go to MCS, Highland, or no races that nite. It would be the local fans of the support class guys, and the stl area latemodel fans, and those are people like me who do not go to WoO sprint races. SFCR would have a good crowd and car count without taking alot from I-55's nite. I call that a win win.

It's no different than a night when the weather is not looking good. It's a gamble, he could open the gates, not have that many show up and lose his @$$, or he could, if he's lucky, break even for the night. But I don't think that he's going to rake in the dough. You would have to really weigh the odds on that one.

Marty is absolutely correct. There's no conspiracy it's just a business situation. Although both the July 12 and Aug. 16th shows were a part of the puzzle. Aug. 16th is not a make-up date..

ok i think the thread got off track literly. I as a owner operator of a ministock would like to see the class go some wear.with only one track to run now the class is going to just end up being a driving school for people who are wanting to race.the reasom the multi, sprint, and modified class's are so popular is because they are FAST,i guess what im saying is im happy racing a s-10 but i would like to be able to have the opturnity to expierment with engine size limitations. i would sacrifice the rest of the racing year to be able to have a chance to see what the fans think.slow is boreing but like the multies small and real fast is exciting.( no i dont want to built a multi!!)

I know EXACTLY what you mean. You guys have only one track to race at (well actually a couple, MCS is a long way to drive though for someone close to SFCR) and it WOULD be nice to get a track or two down here to do something with you guys too. I honestly believe that the mini stocks would bring in people too. There is some awesome racing sometimes, others, its people taking people out, but we won't go there. So, I can TOTALLY see where you're coming from. Best of luck on finding another track. Have you ever tried MCS?
That place is awesome.

mcr

yeah i drove all the way up there and did not finish its a long way to go to break and come home.i broke a valve up there.but i live only a mile and a half from sfcr. by the way when i was there i saw a 5.0 mustang go out with the pure streets and the car was fast.thats why id like to try bigger motor in my s-10 like a 4.3 they can turn some rpms and handle it they are tough. i just think IT COULD BE A GOOD CHANGE.AND PEOPLE WOULDNT NEED TO BUILD UP THERE MOTORS SO MUCH.`
