Junction City, KY-May 14, 2010- The Indiana Late Model Series made its first ever visit to Ponderosa Speedway on Friday evening and local racer Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY would pick up the $1,000 payday in the first ever ILMS event at the 3/8 mile D-shaped clay oval. Other feature event winners for the evening included Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, J.T. Ayers of New Haven, KY in Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, and Wayne Hager of Nicholasville, KY in D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman.

Chase McWhorter would lead the opening lap of the 30 lap Indiana Late Model Series A-Main, but P.J. Feistritzer would win a three-wide battle with McWhorter and Todd Coffman on lap 2 to take the top spot. The trio would continue to battle three-wide on lap 3, with Coffman taking the race lead. Jeremy Hines would claim the third position from Feistritzer on lap 5 as Coffman would begin to work slower traffic in the 23 car starting field by lap 7. Caution would wave on lap 8 as Tyler Allen and Zane Powell would make contact in turn two, with Powell done for the night. The restart would see Hines take second from McWhorter, with Zac Blackwood now in fourth, followed by Steve Godsey in fifth. The front five would remain the same until lap 16 when Blackwood would drive past Feistritzer for the third position. The caution would fly again on lap 17 when John Mulligan would spin his mount in turn four. The restart would see Coffman maintain the lead spot, while Feistritzer motored back around Blackwood for the third spot on lap 18 and would challenge Hines for second. Blackwood would then rejoin the mix, but caution would slow the action again on lap 20 as Jay Mobley would slow on the frontchute and pull pitside. Back underway, Blackwood would scoot to the runner-up spot past Hines and Feistritzer and attempt to pressure Coffman for the lead. McWhorter would motor back to fourth on lap 23, bringing Godsey along with him in fifth. The top five would remain the same the remainder of the way, with Coffman capturing the victory in his King Clean/Coffman Photography/Cook’s Collectibles/Two Brothers Café/A Breath of Fresh Air/Harrod Farms/Bottom Line Tax Service/Hurst Racing/Wilson Dozing/Central Kentucky Log Cabins sponsored #35 C.J. Rayburn Race Car. Blackwood, Hines, McWhorter, and Godsey would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be 19th starting Jeff Johnson, Kevin Colston, John Mulligan, Feistritzer, and Gary Yeager. In preliminary action, McWhorter would be top qualifier among 29 entries at 14.161 seconds, with heat wins going to McWhorter, Feistritzer, and Coffman. Johnson would win the B-Main, while Lindsay Wade would earn the series provisional starting berth.

The Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model main event would see Dustin Neat jump to the race lead, followed by David Webb, Jeff Watson, Michael Chilton, and D.J. Wells. Wells would jump to third on lap 3, while Neat began to pull away a bit from Webb. The front five would remain the same until lap 8 when Aaron Ridley would challenge Chilton for fifth position and take the position on that lap. The field would begin to get strung out by the halfway point and Neat would work slower traffic, but Webb would begin to slowly reel in Neat for the point and a caution on lap 20 would close the field back up when third place running Wells would break a right rear axle, causing the right rear tire and wheel assembly to come off the Wells machine. The restart would also come back as C.J. Rayburn would loop his mount in turn one. The final restart would see Webb get a run on Neat off of turn two and Webb would fire a slidejob pass on Neat for the lead as the field got the five lap to go signal. Neat would return serve with a slider of his own in turn two on lap 21 to regain the race lead and would never be headed the rest of the way to score his second Super Late Model win of the season at Ponderosa aboard his Red Buck Cigars/Neat’s Service Center/D&R Livestock sponsored #25 MasterSbilt Race Car, Estes Race Engines powered entry. Webb would take second, with Watson claiming third, while Ridley and Chilton would round out the top five. In preliminary action, Neat would be the top qualifier among 11 entries at 13.613 seconds and would also win the dash, while Wells won the heat.

The Clayton Homes UMP Modified feature event would see Michael England lead the first two laps until J.T. Ayers would make a slidejob of England for the lead in turn four on lap 3 for the lead. Ayers and England would pull away from the rest of the field and would battle throughout the 20 lap affair before Ayers would pull away a bit over the final five laps to pick up the win in the Don Ayers owned After Hours Body Shop/Hagan Construction/Quick Time Turbo Systems/Buzick Construction/Ayers Auto Service/M&M Get-N-Go/Parkway Service Center sponsored #28 Bandit Race Car, Dale Meers Race Engines powered mount. England would take runner-up honors in his first race of the season, with Jacoby Hines, Kevin Nesselhauf, and Randy Turpin completing the top five.
