Toyota Late Model?

Now that Clint Bowyer is driving for MWR,will McDowell and Landers be driving a Toyota-powered car in 2012? Also, does anyone know if there is a Toyota-powered Late Model currently racing? Food for thought.....:) Another can of worms opened up,how will the rules makers react?

I wish the sanctioning bodies would just say NO! to Toyota. They've ruined enough American racing already- just like they did on the manufacturing side. Let them dirt race in Japan if they like it so much.

These cars are entirely aftermarket anyway so why not? How would having Toyota be any different than having Mopar, Ford, Offenhauser, Chevrolet etc?

You have no idea what you are talking about. Just sayin...

Let's just agree to disagree on this one, shall we Mr. Crump. I know you have driven many Toys and expected you to weigh in for them. I know there have been foreign engines in midgets and Indy cars for years. Sports car racing has always been open to imports too. Why can't we have something that's all American? What is so wrong with that? I don't believe the St. Louis area is better off with the abandoned Ford and Chrysler plants and a GM plant that is a shell of its former self. I would hate to see the same thing happen to late models/modifieds/sportsman/sprints too. I know all the automakers are 'global' these days, but GM and Ford have their headquarters in the US and that makes a big difference to me.

Seems to me the Ford and Chrysler plants you mention moved the jobs to Mexico and Canada. Take a government handout and then move the jobs out of the country but some still don't want to blame them. I can buy a Toyota truck made in Texas but if I want an "American" truck I have to get one made in Mexico and Canada. Who is helping out the average American factory worker more? Hmmm

Toyota is already in sprint cars. They even pay a bonus if you win a race with one in USAC. It would be easy to have one in a late model since all testing has been done in the sprint and Silver Crown cars.

I agree. But I also understand where the other guys are coming from. It would be nice to have something American made left IN the United States.

I can see the argument for both sides. I'm sure it comes down to if Dirtcar gets there pockets greased or not. JMO

Toyota?

Ford did not take any bailout from Obama. Chrysler is now owned by Fiat and the UAW.... Ford even had a commercial that stated so much as to "NOT" taking your tax money bailout..Obama's regime pressured them to not advertise that.
As for Bowyers stuff, recall recently seeing Reutimans modifieds with sbc power. In the end loyalty all boils down to $$$$

If I recall right ford didn't take a bailout they refused it all together and as far as running toyota engines unless you looked at the front nose you wouldn't even know the difference. Also unless it was a crate it would actually be an american made engine except for the parts going in it somebody still has to build it
