Track Championships

What would the top 4 or 5 places be to win a track championship in the Missouri-Illinois area in a super late model. Based on prestige, car counts, top notch competitors etc. Also in a modified as well what are the toughest tracks to win at. I know there has to be some opinions on this.

There is no harder division to win a points championship in this area than the modified division at I55. I know this was a late model thread, but I wanted to give a shout out to the modifieds.

if guys would run tri-city on a regular basis it would be just as tough in the mods there too. always have a good show of mods there.

I have to agree with you on the modifieds at I-55. The talent level is far and above anywhere else in the area on a consistent basis. At least 10 (probably more) would be immediate contenders at other tracks in the area.

As far as Late Models, I'd say I-55 as well. At big shows, such as the summernationals and the Pepsi nationals in the fall, drivers that normally race one track, i.e. Highland, Belleville, don't fare as well. Conversely, when drivers that regularly attend I-55 race at a different track, they have fairly decent success.

I think I-67, before it was closed, was another track that brought the best out in drivers. Also the half-mile at Tri-City before reconfiguration. When the modifieds were sanctioned NASCAR in the 1990s, it was some of the best racing I'd ever seen. I now feel the same way about modifieds and late models at I-55.

I can't be conclusive about the subject, however, as I have not yet been to Tri-City this year (it is on my agenda).

Any other opinions. Hope I didn't bore you.

Bill
