Tri-City Speedway goes to the Chase Format for 2012 Weekly Points

All 5 divisions will go to a Chase format for 2012 point standings.

The top 10 in points for each division at the start of August will go into the Chase. The final 6 nights of points will have those top 10 battling it out for the points title.

They will also determine an overall champion for the track between all of the divisions. The overall winner will win a 2 person cruise with Kenny Wallace in December.
 
They do this at Clarksville Speedway. It is good for the racer because he can miss a few nights along the way and stay in the top 10 in points. Then shoot for the championship in August and September. Really good for guys who want to run a few Summit Series or Summernational dates...
 
I don't know. It seems like one of NASCAR's dumbest ideas is now coming to the local tracks. What's next, a 'dirt car of tomorrow' spec? It makes a tighter points race, but it doesn't reward consistency over the entire season.
 
I think this is a good move.

At what point are these track point races just a perfect attendence award? This gives the champion more creditability for some consistancy during the "regular season" and dominance during "the chase."

I think "The Chase" should be sponsored by the Pontoon Police Department. I'm sure they could throw Kevin 10 grand for all of the business he brings them.
