I'll tell you why I don't like them. There to big , to boxy, to slow there over glorifed hobby stocks.

I don't know of very many 2300 lb. hobby stocks with quick changes, aluminum motors, 11 inch tires, etc.

Most, not all, latemodel fans are retarded they worship people like ed dixon.

Nice patronizing attitude there.

buffwang_1 said:
Sprintcars have been around since the 40's they have a history latemodels have none.

Try telling that to anyone who ever watched guys like Buck Simmons, Larry Moore, Charlie Swartz, Red Farmer, etc.

weekly latemodel shows pull the same amount of cars as a weekly sprint show does. If you need to be convinced just go to knoxville Iowa for a weekly show not for the nationals.

I think we can stack the weekly LM car count at Oakshade, Ohio up against the sprint count at Knoxville.

Have you ever been to knoxville? I don't think you have, knoxville pulls a hell of alot more cars than any where else. But you would know this if had been there. People come all around the world too see sprintcars not Latemodels! But you would know this if you would just go to see how much better they are than latemodels. They pull weekly 70+ I've never seen that with any latemodel show. I really don't think you know what your talking about. And yes that guy Sam Apponey that was his name but he wasn't from springfield. And still nobody and I mean nobody can given me a real reason why they like latemodels. Until they do there still a joke! And I will tell that to any people that have watched those so called jokes. There not heros. There people who needed 20 ft on both sides of them to give them safety. They couldn't run at full speed in a sprintcar or they would be dead. They where just trying to get into nascrap that's all. You don't see nascar pulling out latemodel drives you see them getting sprintcar drivers. Because that's what they are drivers, not people that set in the seat and take up space.

Don't let this idiot full you with his numbers crap. The reason he's putting 70+ sprint cars down is because Knoxville runs 410's and 360's on the same night. If you go to their website and check under results, you will see that they average around 35 cars in each class, not 70+. Now if he wants to compare numbers, why isn't he comparing the car count for the Knoxville Nationals or the Kings Royal against the World 100, The Dream or even the Show Me 100 at West Plains? And littlewang, there are some young drivers from the late model's going to Nascar....why don't you do a little homework and see if you can figure it out. I'll give you a little hint...one of them drives the 1a Late Model right here in St. Louis. Oh..wait a minute, so does Tony Stewart...Kenny Schrader....Kenny Wallace....Carl Edwards.

Ps. I really don't think YOU know what you're talking about. ;)

since when is the kings royal, showme 100 and that other thing a weekly show? tony stewart although I can't stand him was more famous for his usac sprint and midget racing than the usac stock cars which are not late models by local standards. he was the only two time winner hell the only usac triple crown champ. the point is he was well rounded in his driving endeavors he didn't stick to one thing hanging out in the local tracks kicking the same guys buts week in and week out like Mr Dixon and Korte and those guys sure they go outside the area a few times a year for the real big money events but as far as I am concerned they are just bullies.

i just want to thank you all for helping me so much.i now understand that late model fans are idiot rednecks that dont know why they waist money on crap shows.but i also no know that late models are needed in the world of racing.why?to keep dumb *** wanna be drivers from killing themself or some other drive that has skill.also it keeps retard fans busy so we can enjoy real racing without watching you drink and make out with youre cousins.so late model fans keep kissin dixons *** and clean up that track every other lap and pleas keep going to late model shows.the unskilled drivers need love to and you freaks are just the ones to give it to them.

THIS BUDS FOR YOU

Yeah that was him but he wasn't from spring field. He was from madison and the crappy car probably weighed 5,000 lbs with a whimpy un alterred 302 out of a 76 commet gt. that motor only made about 220 hp new. It was strange to find someone who would remember that much I was a kid then and don't really remember half that crap. :)

Oh..ok..sorry..people always said..it was a chrysler engine. All the same..he did what he wanted to do..that was race..and seemed to have fun doing it..no harm there.

I think he had fun following around the guys with the money. anyway I really used to enjoy watching kenny edwards and john seets. I wish they had something like that class around still.

Hey..those were the days man..and that was an awesome class. Len Garson ran that class tooo...#25..red and black..huge steering wheel..and fast. Lotta fast cars. Kenny Edwards...and John Seets had sprint cars..uhhhh..i mean..hmm..modifieds(ever see the tear drop cell they still had on those cars..wow!!). Anyway...kinda cool..running into someone who liked that class also..and..wow..Sam...i remmeber him and that car.

so there's nothing like at all around there? I remember lenny and lorry roach and they had some guy with a car that looked like a slice of cheese. What ever happened to wib spalding?

I always liked John Hanner's old Don Edmunds car with the dual wheel set-up, lol. Or how about Mike Hanner's supermodified with the '55 Chevy taillights?:D

no wings on those babies

why do you all have to try to tear apart a sport that isnt exactly taking off, i mean as far as world class drivers in their "home car" late models have sprint car drivers beat hands down... although i'd bet money there are probably 3:1 latemodel to sprint car drivers in the US.latemodels aren't as fast as sprint cars no, the rules dont allow them to be. But you're not goin to run a sprint car for 100 laps now are you? sprint cars are a transition to indy style cars, there are very few people that can run a sprint car year round and break even, including sponsor money much less that be their only job. Latemodel drivers are (generally) trying to go to ASA or asphalt eventually. the drivers are taking 2 different paths and both ways provide good racing, it's not always about the speed anymore, it's about the rules, sprint cars are being slowed down by the rules as the latemodels have been limited to for many years by weight and such... just trying to bring in another angle...

late models

I think they would be better if they got rid of that giant cow catcher on the front. Those cars look like battle ships. I just want to see them on bigger tracks where they can get some room in the corners.

Have you even looked at a LM since the late 90s? They got rid of the slab front ends with protruding tow bars, and the noses are more stock appearing then they have been in years. But you wouldn't know that, as you are too busy spewing your hate for late models to actually watch them.

Then try the mile shows at Springfield or DuQuoin, where you can see a 140 MPH follow the leader parade.
