Two big nights this weekend for O'Reilly POWRi Series!

Friday July 18th - Dana Godfrey Memorial

MILLSTADT, IL – The O’Reilly POWRi Midget Series presented by Lucas Oil will pay tribute to the late wife of one of midget racings longtime chassis builders with the 5th Annual ‘Dana Godfrey Memorial’ on Friday July 18th at the fifth-mile Macon (IL) Speedway. Midget drivers will be competing for a $3,000 to WIN first place prize. The O’Reilly POWRi 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprints will also join the evening’s card.

John Godfrey has been active in POWRi since its inception and Spike Chassis is one of POWRi’s strongest supporters and sponsors. This race will remember and honor Godfrey’s wife, Dana, who was instrumental in Godfrey’s racing success. This year, Spike will again be giving away a new chassis at the season-ending banquet via a drawing.

Saturday July 19th - Finely Memorial & Pat Bierman Benefit Race

Saturday night July 19th the POWRi midgets and Outlaw Micro Sprints return to Belle-Clair Speedway for the annual ‘Finley Memorial’. This race will be a benefit event for Belleville EMT Pat Bierman. Bierman was shot May 19th during an ambush on Interstate 64 in East St. Louis as he and another EMT were transporting one of two brothers wounded in a Washington Park shooting. This event is supported by the Belleville Police and Fire Department as well as MedStar Ambulance. These three departments are selling general admission tickets to this event with proceeds going to Pat.

Zach Daum of Pocahontas, IL holds a slim five point lead over Belleville’s Brett Anderson, fresh off of his first and second place showings at Paducah International Raceway and Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN respectively. Following Daum and Anderson in the standings are Mike Hess, Brad Loyet (winner at Haubstadt) and Rookie of the Year leader Tyler Robbins.

Eric Edwards of Creal Springs, IL holds a 190 point lead in the 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint standings heading into the weekends events over Derek King of Vienna, IL, Jacob Patton of Bethalto, IL (fresh off of his first career POWRi victory at Paducah International Raceway), Tyler Robbins of Collinsville, IL and rounding out the top five is Ryan Langston of Greenfield, IN.

Belle-Clair pit gates open at 1:00 PM and general admission opens at 4:00 PM. Hot laps begin at 6:00 PM with racing at 7:00 PM. General admission tickets are $12 each with kids 6 and under free. Stop by your local metro area O’Reilly Auto Parts Store to purchase your tickets and you’ll pay only $10.
