$1 Water night, it is going to be a burner out there...Old guys have to stay hydrated.
8pm start time....not that delaying an hour would decrease the temp, but the sun would be less of a factor.

I guess two and three wide in the late model feature isn't good enough??? Not sure what race you are watching but every person I talked to thought it was a great race.

Thanks Craig

I really don't think he was suggesting that they need to do a better job on track prep. I'm pretty sure he was trying to say a delayed starting time would lend for a better track that evening.

i agree especialy on the later start time that is what tri-city is doing on friday

craig always leaps before he looks and the track has been pretty good the last two weeks and tim did a good jod picking up the win but this post prolly wont affect the start times at pevely because nothing is a good idea unless they think of it

Well instead of just saying "And a better track" you could say it would be better on the track also. Then no one would miss interpreted the statement.

We are typing into a little white box...misinterpretations are going to happen!

Starting later would increase the possibility that the track will be racey AGAIN on Saturday. That's all I'm sayin.'

With this being a special show brings on the possiblity of fairly large car counts and i for one dont want to sit at the track till midnight like we did at the s/n race. Water the hell out of the track and start at normal time so everyone can get home at a decent hour. Its not going to get that much cooler between 7 and 9.

I know its probably just the heat.....but lets stop the pizzing, moaning, and nit picking.

Please, lets all just take a breathe and remember this is about a special Lady who we are honoring on this night. It may not mean a lot to some of you, but for those who were close to her and to her family members this is a very special night.

The trophies were delivered today ! :) I sure hope it is an " IMPRESSIVE " night of Dirt track racing ..... :)
Come on Saturday Night .

Its really not the heat that is hard on the surface (especially with the high dew points and humidity). It is the direct sunlight. Even the shaded areas fair better during the early part of the evening compared to the ares getting straight baked. IE...Granite turns 1/2 compared to 3/4.

Race fans used to go racing whether it was hot or not,now we can't go w/o complaining about something. The show always runs long at I-55,partly because they have to run so many classes during a special show. It's the nature of the beast now, gotta pay the purse!!!!!!

I agree with kingeddy....this night is about one of the most wonderful person I had the honor to know!
Lisa - I can't wait to see the trophies! I'm with you come on Saturday! It will be a AWESOME NIGHT!!!!!

Can't wait 1 more day ! The trophies were donated by " IMPRESSIVE RACE CARS " and it would not be a race for LA LA with out LM's down to Pro 4's ........ I hope there will be alot of people there enduring the weather to take advantage of the monies and Great racing provided ! Who will take the invert challenge? Good Luck to all and hope to see you at the track : )

dirtgirl, I'll see you Saturday night!!! I don't ever worry about what time we get out of there because I sit in the stands until the last race is over, then head on down to the pits to Jimmy's trailer, then sometimes to the outer pits after they turn the lights out on us. We have to stop at Steak 'n Shake in Arnold for coffee and our $4.00 steak burgers so I can make it the rest of the way home. It's usually 4:00 a.m. when we see home so I don't ever worry about the late night. That's part of racing!!

Yes, It's going to be HOT but dress for the heat and hydrate all night long. Funny how there are always more paper towels left on a really hot night as people don't have to use the restroom as much because of all the sweatin' going on. I notice little silly things, you know.

Just hope Ray and the Chipster have a good supply of my favorite delicious "CHAMP" ice cream drumsticks on hand for my cool-down about 8:00 p.m. That really helps me cope with the heat up in my Cummins "C" section perch. Who knows, I may need a second one later on?

So see you soon girlfriend! Laura will be having a good ole time watching us stir up some trouble tomorrow night! I'll bet real race fan will be in on it too!

Racing at I55 is over on average at 10:30 give or take a few every week. Specials generally run a little longer it's the nature of the beast. Don't think it should put anyone out happening just a few times a year. I wouldn't have an issue with the start time being 8pm. It's a helluva lot cooler feeling in the shade than in direct sunlight reguardless of the temp. Nevertheless I'll be there no matter what in honor of Mrs. LJJ!!!!!
