Pevely, MO (October 1, 2003) The United Midwestern Promoters (U.M.P.) Challenge of Champions Series Extravaganza will feature many of the Midwest's top late model drivers as they compete for the richest purse in I-55 Raceway's history. The winner will take home $15,000 of the $40,000 total purse.

The race features a very unique format. There were twenty qualifying races run throughout the summer in which the winner of those races were guaranteed a spot in the Extravanganza event. There were thirteen different winners who guaranteed themselves a starting spot and they are Randy Korte, Shannon Babb, Kevin Weaver, Rodney Melvin, Kevin Claycomb, Billy Moyer, Don O'Neal, Dennis Erb, Jr., Justin Allgaier, Roger Long, Mark Faust, Terry English and Brian Shirley.

The rest of the starting field will be determined with the following race procedures:

<B>Qualifications:</b> All race cars will qualify in time trials.

<B>Challenge of Champions Dash:</b> The top 7 in Challenge of Champions Points without a guaranteed starting position will race in a 10 lap Dash. The first four (4) from the Dash get a starting spot in the feature. Fifth, sixth and seventh in the Dash will start on the pole of the B Heats!

<B>"B" Heats:</b> Two or Three qualifying B Heats will be held for all race cars not already guaranteed into the feature. At least five drivers will make the feature event from the "B" Heats.

<B>Consolation Race:</b> A consolation race will be held for drivers unable to make the feature through the B Heats. One additional driver will make the feature from the consolation race.

<B>Provisional:</b> The 24th and final starting position for the feature will be a provisional starting position to the highest driver in Challenge of Champions Series Points not yet qualified for the feature.

<b>"A" Heats:</b> The 24 drivers qualified for the 40 lap feature event revert back to their qualifying times to determine the lineup for three 8 car, 10 lap heats.

<B>Feature Line Up:</b> The lineup for the 40 lap feature event is determined by the "A" Heats finishes.

<b>NOTE:</b> Anyone wrecking or having mechanical problems in a heat, can drive a replacement car in the Feature. But the driver must start in the rear, and the replacement car must have qualified and raced in a B Heat. No driver can qualify more than one car.

This race will also award National & State UMP Points.

The U.M.P. Modified division will also be competing with $1,000 going to the winner.

Admission for this event will be $20 with kids 12 and under FREE. Pit admission is $25 for all ages. Gates will open at 4PM and qualifying is set to begin at 6:30PM.

I-55 Raceway, a high-banked, one-third-mile clay oval, is located 30 minutes south of the St. Louis Gateway Arch on Interstate 55 at Pevely exit 180 & 178. For more information, call the track at (636) 479-3219 or visit www.i55raceway.com.

Billy Moyer will not be attending this race.
In the dash for non qualifiers will be Billy Faust, Chad Zobrist, Rylan Dagg, Eric Smith, Ed Dixon, Steve Sheppard, and Don Hammer as the current point reflect.
Without Moyer, that means there are 13 drivers going into the feature and 11 to earn a spot.
Whoever shows up, be there good racing.
It looks like cool weather so bring jackets and blankets.

why is billy moyer not running at i55 who esle is not running let me know if alot of the big names are not there im not there either.

Billy Moyer is the only driver that is qualified that I have heard about that will not be there. The rest of the qualied drivers should be there. The quality of the field should be good. It should be as good or better than the Summer National. There are only two classes running so it should be a good show.
