UMP modified engine rules

As Cobra II pointed out in the thread about the UNOH modified, UMP rules exclude the only V-8 Toyota uses in their production vehicles:UMP 15.1 – EngineA.) Any American made engine (yes they are assembled in the US) will be permitted as long as the rear of the engine bell housing flange is mounted at least 72”-inches forward from the center of the rear axle. The engine offset must remain within two (2”) inches of the center line from the cross member. The minimum engine height when measured from the ground to the center of the crankshaft is 11” inches.B.) All engines used in competition must be able to be used in a conventional passenger car without alteration (none of Toyota's cars are V-8 powered). Alteration of motor mounts will not be permitted. Alteration of the castings and/or fittings will not be permitted. Any machine work on the outside of the engine or machine work on the front or rear of the crankshaft will not be permitted.C.) Aluminum blocks will not be permitted. (All Toyota truck V-8s are aluminum blocks.)Once the UNOH car replaces the Chevy engine that is powering it to victory lane at Speedweeks with the rice burner that has its decals plastered on the car, I would think every GM/Ford/Mopar team has an excellent chance to protest. Unless some yen is being sent to UMP that pays to open this loophole:L.) There may be specific engine rules issued for each region of North America that deviate from the standard UMP Modified Engine rules included herein. Has any team or engine builder asked UMP about this?

The 2UZ-FE was a 4.7 L (4,664 cc/284.6 cu in) version built in Tahara, Aichi, Japan and at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama. Unlike its other UZ counterparts, this version uses a cast iron block to increase durability, as it was designed for low-reving, high-torque pickup and SUV applications.

I wonder if DART is involved in this??? Maybe they will make a motor for them.......who knows. But im bettin it will be a copy off an already made USA product to get the bolt on stuff to work(bert trans......water and fuel pumps). Either way i agree. Currently they donot have a raceable steel production motor to even copy off of.

My question is if its a dry sump engine will it be legal, last i talked to someone at ump they told me i could run everything but the tank so i would like to see how it is setup. Just remember there is still aclaim rule for these engines and i was warned by ump about it Also i was going to use a dodge engine not a toyota. so i just got a late model instead of dealing with all the bs
