UMP steelblocks

Everyone has a conspiracy theory about a lot of these issues of late. How may of them actually know what is really going on and have sat in on meetings, know the whole story, really take into account the workings of putting together schedules, new series, etc.?

There is one thing about scheduling that everyone seems to forget about, and that is schedules are TENTATIVE! Subject to change!

BTW, on the SN issue, I understand that I-55 didn't get the date they originally wanted either, but you won't find the conspiracy theorists mention that now will you!:D

Hard tires, hard tires, hard tires....

There is a guy in Georgia starting a new series , it is a "crate motor"style series called the Fastrak Dirt Car Series. It has a decent point fund & decent purses. I think if UMP dont want to sanction steel blocks maybe area promoters should check something like this out. Check out rules & points fund at www.fastrakracing.com
I know this will probably start another debate about crate/spec motors but i thought it looked like a good idea. JMO

Actually I55 got the weekend they always get and that's the July 4th Weekend. In years past it's always been right there at or near the 4th of July. Haubstadt is usually the last Sunday in June and I55 is always the following week.

I kind of put little schedules together on the calendar in November and when the schedule's are released I'm usually not that far off.

Let's say for a moment that what racer1946 has to say is correct. If one is to believe that "everything is a conspiracy", then the organizations Schrader is associated with have some interesting connections:

When word of the Ironman division hits the web, Craig Cowan is saying "definitely yes", Schrader "definitely no", and Bob Sargent "mmm, maybe". The powers running UMP are not on the same page at this stage of the game.

It is announced that the World of Outlaws Late Model series will sanction I-55's Nationals. I speculate that the racers may view this as a slap in the face, due to the loyalty issues vs. guaranteed spots for the "Dirty Dozen" (which is now down to 11 members). Will the mid-pack racers support the track all season long (referring to the "psychological boost" racer1946 spoke of earlier)?

It is announced that Fayette County Speedway has booked a WoO LM race on the same night as the NALMS event. Remember Schrader' is Vice President of NALMS. Fayette drops the NALMS, and soon after, the WoO drops Fayette because of "miscommunications" between the schedule makers. NALMS doesn't reschedule after being "slapped in the face" by the powers that be at Brownstown.

The newest version of the Summernationals schedule is released with the July 11th date going to Tri City. This is the date UMP tried to force on Montgomery County. Kinniard wanted the date that was originally promised to him on July 4th weekend. The promise came from Memmer during the 2003 season. The original date would have allowed the racers to go directly from Pevely to Montgomery on consecutive nights. The July 11th date is a week later in the series, therefore fewer teams will be following the series by that juncture, not to mention the added travel involved.

Now I ask the following questions: Is it UMP's intention to make things difficult for any track that is in competition with I-55 on Saturday nights? Is I-55 worried that some of it's steel block drivers might run Tri City on occasion, if not all year? Did Schrader have any influence on the decision not to sanction a steel-block class? With Schrader's NALMS ties, will the bruised feelings due to the WoO stepping on their toes at Fayette County result in I-55 dropping the WoO sanction for the Nationals? And maybe the biggest question of all... is Schrader really not as much a "good ol boy" as he is a cut-throat businessman? And does anyone really care as long as he keeps grinnin' for the cameras?

Of course, this is all speculation, depending on whether or not you believe there's always more to the story than meets the eye.

It's been almost a year since this post, and I thought it was interesting to reflect on it with the knowledge of all that has transpired in the past couple of months.

Didn't Kloos run at the Octoberfest race?

Wow so many thoughts. JMO but, If you really want to help make the class make it there are some changes that would be easy to police and are of minor cost. Have the front wheels weight come over the scales @1100lbs. leads cheap. This will bring the cars balance to about 51% to 52% rear and there's no need for 700hp engines even with 10or20s on the wheels.

There is a second choice, all engines, NO SHAFT ROCKER ARMS. Either way the cost of racing each week will go down. Yes it will not make everyone happy but, more people will be able to afford race.

Yea..the octoberfest was an after all the racing and points done deal..so..he was eligible.
