Kenny Schrader has them at Paducah. Would you like them at I55? If there is interest, lets show Ray Marler.

Aren't these one in the same?

I-55 already has four classes of cars racing, what class will you replace?

Four classes are plenty for one track in my opinion. Any more than that and you lengthen the program and cause fans to leave or not show up. At I-55, if you watch the fans, they are there to watch the Late Models and Modifieds and then they leave.

I for one would rather watch the bombers at belleville any day over the ususal modified yellow-fest or a late-model parade at pevely.

On the best nights, the mode and LM's do put on a hell of a show, but on average, its not the best night. Some (hell, even most) nights, the mod feature is like watching grass grow. 1 lap-yellow-1 lap-yellow-1 lap-yellow.

I bet a good number of those who leave after the LM and Mods are doing so because they were bored silly.

Not sure what the rules are or car counts, but I wouldn't want too much to do with UMP til they get some rules finalized.... This 4 or 5 rules a year, and noone even knows where the rules are going is a pain in the rear. Makes it too hard to buy or build a new car, because you don't know if it will be obsolete next year. This is just my opinion.

THATS THE STORY AT MOST TRACKS IF THE LATE MODELS AND MODIFIEDS RUN 1ST. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM ADD A STREET STOCK TYPE CLASS. THEY COULD DO LIKE BELLEVILLE AND RUN THEM LAST EACH WEEK, SO THEY DON'T PROPLONG THE NIGHT FOR THOSE NOT INTERESTED. I THINK EVERY TRACK NEEDS A STREET STOCK CLASS. THEY ARE A GREAT STEPPING STONE TO SPORTSMAN ECT ECT... 4CYLS TO SPORTSMAN IS TOO BIG OF A LEAP FOR THE AVERAGE JOE.

Great post!!! Well said

4 classes?? Hurry to get home??? The more..the merrier...just run a well run program and everyone will walk away happy.

How about a complete overhaul? UMP Lates, CARS Lates, UMP Street Stocks, 4-cylinders.

And screw 2 of the classes that get the most cars every week?? That seems kinda dumb. Keep the classes as they are, the street stocks wouldn't be a bad idea since Belleville has them, but five classes would be too much. As pitdrifter said they do need something cheaper to move to from 4 cyl. to sportsman and a crate is not that.

I agree with racin90. Well said

NEVER wish for crate late models, they are the worst show possible!!!
THANX RICH

The four classes they have are fine. Any more and it makes the show too long for "normal" fans.

THEY COULD DO LIKE BELLEVILLE AND RUN THEM LAST EACH WEEK, SO THEY DON'T PROPLONG THE NIGHT FOR THOSE NOT INTERESTED.

The problem with that idea is that they still have to run heat races - which prolongs the whole show. Read the racing magazine articles about some of the most sucessful promoters and short tracks in the country. They all have one thing in common - 4 classes or less and a quick, well organized program. Several of the most sucessful tracks in the Northeast run 2 or 3 classes and have over 100 cars a night.

Look at all the problems Tri-City had the last 2 years trying to run 6 classes on Sunday night. Most NORMAL people don't want to sit in the stands for 5 or 6 hours watching lower performance cars.......

The Poll

OK, what's the difference between Streetstocks and Purestocks? Aren't they one and the same, but just go by different names?

Belleville calls them "Purestocks" now, but they used to be "Bombers" (I just love the Bombers). Highland still calls them "Bombers", I believe. Tri-City calls them "Streetstocks". Why didn't you make the poll under one name for this class? That would give you better results, wouldn't it? Or are you gonna combine those two into one category?

These two classes and the 4-cylinder cars are the classes that are affordable for most people to get into racing. If you don't have somewhere for new racers to start out, you won't be replenishing your crop of new people in the sport. No wonder it might die out at local tracks -- no one can afford to race anymore!

I agree with cowracer when he said,

I've said this before on here, it's easy to spot the racers who have not put in the time behind the wheel and risen up through the ranks of the classes. These are the ones causing the yellows and crashes, especially in the mods. Could there possibly be a rule that you have to start at the bottom and prove yourself before you can move up? I know that wouldn't work, but it would save time and so much money for the other racers. Just my opinion.

They Could Add Street Stocks And Allied Would Still Get It Done Buy 11. They Do It At Belleville Every Week. If 11 Is Too Late For You?? Oh Well! Its Not All About The Fans!!!!!

But, I Bet If The Mods And Late Models Had 60 Cars A Week In Each Class The "no" Voters Wouldn't Be Worried About A Prolonged Show.

I Gaurantee I55 Wouldn't Lose One Fan By Bringing Them In. They Would Only Gain. They'd Also Gain At The Pit Shack. Where The Price Of Admission Is Over $$$double$$$ What The Grandstand Fans Pay!!!

I would say NO they are not the same. Pure stock means just that> NO strocker motors only hyd. lifters; and in most cases no angle plug heads or no triple disc. clutches etc. Where w/ the street stock you are allowed to run most all of those things.

ss at pevely

I have heard that the sportsman/ street stock fall nationals was the one of the best shows there this year . I think to make the fans and drivers happy it would be nice to see the street stock up there more than once a year. if it were me i would run the SS every other week or something to that extent just my opinion
