Highland Speedway UMP Summer Nat'ls makeup on Sunday, August 25th

I sure hope they hammer out some details in the next week. Ever since that race was rained out, they have said that the field is set. I even think I heard the announcer say it again last Saturday night. Exactly what does that mean? The Modifieds and Street Stocks have already drawn their pills and I am sure that the lineups were already made up but I cannot remember if they were posted or not. Do they re-draw or keep their pill draw number? If a Modified or Street Stock shows up that was not there the night of the rain out, do they get to draw a pill or start in the back of their heat race? Are they even allowed to race?

Now what about the Late Models? They did not finish qualifying all of the cars and some of the cars that were there on July 6th will not be back and I am sure they can pull in some new cars if they give them a fair chance to compete. If the field is set, will only the ones that were there on July 6th get to qualify with the new cars starting on the rear of their heat race? We could come up with dozens of different situations that could occur next Sunday night but that is not what I am trying to do. I just want the officials to tell the drivers and fans exactly how the show is going to be ran. Tonight, at the races, would be a good night to start doing that and put all of the rumors to rest.

I do know only the late models that were there can come back. First 3 groups have qualified already. Fourth group still has to qualify. There were 40 late models signed in.

I just hope they get the word out. That's not good for the track if cars show up to race and get turned away.

What about the Modifieds? All were qualified and the heats were set. Whatever is done for the late models should be done as well for the Mods!!

from what I have heard highland wants the field opened up but UMP wants it locked in with no additional cars added..i would like to run my car but at this time can not..i would think a call to UMP by any driver wishing to get in the show would be in order JMO

I'm pretty sure it is the same for mods and late models. No new cars... There were 40 modifieds at the original rain out as well.

are only the fans that were there originally allowed in too ?..no new ones ?..:)

That's a good one. I think the best thing to do is for someone to post UMP's phone number then for everyone to start making their phones ring Monday morning. Highland Speedway needs to post a statement on here. Maybe get an explanation from UMP and copy it here.

well they said last night if u were not there. U can't run. Ump rules they said no new cars are allowed which is dumb but sure hope its. A big flop and bites them where sun doesn't shine

This is a weird deal and im actually surprised they are trying to make it up. I dont think they will have their big field they had when the rains came and im surprised they just dont split the purse up to who was there and call it a day. But even if 16 cars show up it will be 16 bad lates and modifieds.

I am going to be going to the UMP-MARS race at Pevely the night before and I would definitely stay overnight and go to this race, if it was opened up to everyone to run.

since they qualified with their heat races what happens if only one or 2 cars from a group show up? do they run a 2 car heat race or do they somehow mix them in with another?

i hope more than 18 cars show up for what i payed to get in. sometimes ump just amazes me! give me my money back and i can go twice to see more than 18 cars. I know we cant do anything about the rain but does anyone know who is coming back for sure?

I don't get how something can be set for something that NEVER happened. They didn't even qualify all the cars. It's like UMP just has a power trip or something.. At the least they should explain this to everyone.
