CORONA, CA (August 26, 2008) - Another busy holiday weekend awaits the stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series as the upcoming Labor Day Weekend kicks off on Saturday Night, August 30th at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH followed on Sunday Night, August 31st with the 40th Annual Hillbilly 100 at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV paying a record-setting purse of $40,000 to win.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will make its second ever appearance at the Donna Rayburn and Chuck Greenslate promoted Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH. The "Glockner River Days Rumble" on Saturday Night will feature a complete show for the LOLMDS with PRC Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the $10,000 to win feature event. Steve Francis of Ashland, KY driving for Tim Logan won the inaugural event at Portsmouth for the LOLMDS in 2007.

Sunday Night's trip to Tyler County Speedway will be a record-breaking event, as America's Oldest Dirt Late Model Major Event will, for the first time ever pay $40,000 to win; in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of this event which first ran back in 1967. Eddie Carrier, Jr. of Salt Rock, WV joined the list of event winners in 2007 by taking his first win in this prestigious race. The annual event has been held at Tyler County since 1998.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series' trip to the ¼ mile high-banked track known as simply "The Bullring" will see a compete one-day show with PRC Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the $40,000 to win 40th Annual Hillbilly 100. Gates will open at 3 PM with hot laps at 6 PM. The rain date for the Hillbilly 100 will be Monday, September 1st. The tire rule will be the same for both series events with the Hoosier 1300, LM20, 1425, 1600 and LM40 allowed along with the American Racer SD44, SD48 and MD56.

Heading into Labor Day Weekend, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series; Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL leads the Lucas Oil Championship Points Standings followed by Bart Hartman of Zanesville, OH, Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN, Billy Drake of Bloomington, IL and Terry Casey of New London, WI. Both Pearson and Hartman are former Hillbilly Hundred winners.

The remainder of the top ten in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series points coming to Portsmouth and Tyler County are Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, KY, Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN, Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI, Freddy Smith of Seymour, TN and Wayne Chinn of Bradford, OH. Freddy Smith is a 2-time winner of the annual event.
