CARTERSVILLE, GA – A clerical error from a NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division track has changed the point standings from the previously released standings earlier today. Mike Lane of Pace, FL had a 40-point win at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL on Saturday night. This changes the Top 10 of the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings.
This correction drops Lane from first to fourth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock standings with 172 points, and moves Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS and James “Scooter Ware of West Point, MS into a tie for first with 180 points. David Windham of Florala, AL is third with 175 points.
Behind Lane in the fifth spot is Clint Vaughn of Odenville, AL and Scotty Vowell of Philadelphia, MS is sixth with 149 points. Kevin Whittington of Brandon, MS is seventh with 144 points and Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL is eighth with 143 points. Jeremy Idom of Hattiesburg, MS is ninth with 138 points, and Branden Harris of Molina, FL rounds out the Top 10 with 137 points.
The mix up began on Saturday night when Southern Raceway reported their results showing eight cars competing. Fields with eight or more cars are 50 point to win races. Fields with less than eight cars are 40 point to win races. There was one car in that field that was not permitted to compete and put into another division.
The person sending the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division results Saturday night to NeSmith Race Control was not made aware of the eighth car being dropped. Southern Raceway officials notified NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division officials of the miscommunication today after the Week 4 points and results had been posted showing Lane with a 50-point win and the point lead.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this mix up may have caused, but we appreciate the integrity of Southern Raceway for letting us know of the error today so we could correct it,” NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Director Roby Helm said. “The important thing is that we all work together to get things right.”
