Might want to listen to RaceFanRadio.com Friday around 1:30 p.m. for a big announcement by Gateway and USAC.

I wouldn't mind it being the new version of the gold crown car...

The old Silver Crown pavement car may be too fast on that track for safety purposes

the 'old' silver crown cars ran there before. awesome show. almost 2 seconds a lap faster than the busch(at that time) cars. no safety problems then. you could throw a blanket over 1st,2nd, 3rd place cars at the checkers.

I too thought the racing was incredible, but I was sure thinking that the front end was lifting on some of those cars and that's why they quit coming...

I did hear about the back end coming off the ground do to not having full belly pans but it was at like Nashville I think.

Silver Crown cars at GIR

Wouldn't that be wonderful! They were discontinued at GIR because of the billing and money USAC wanted at the time. The Nashville problem was on the new style cars (the ugly ones) that never 'took' thank goodness.

tony stewert was running one the first year,it was like a whos, who of open wheel racing,i think bettenhausin got upside down on the front stright..best i can recall eric gordon was running diggers car, bently warren was there also and i belive jack hewett...

USAC big ideas

The 'new and improved' Silver Crown cars was not one of USACs better ideas. The ugly car went up in smoke and we haven't seen it in 2 years now. Museum material. Then it was the focus cars. They may have been a good idea but it seems that whatever USAC touches turns to you know what. Hope they don't mess up the QMs now.
