USRA Meeting

The only reason i said USRA was because they are the ones having the "informational" meeting in the area. I am open to IMCA also. The thing with IMCA is they dont play around...they put out a set of rules and if you choose not to abide by those rules they are more than happy to show you where the gate is! I am for that also. We need a sanctioning body who is willing to do that. Right now with U.M.P we have nothing in the support class's. I myself dont know enough about USRA but i do have some people i have been talking to that run USRA and im not totally convinced they are the right way to go just yet. Now IMCA im convinced wont mess around. I have a couple friends who run IMCA up in Iowa and have been watching whats going on here and they tell me all the time..(yea IMCA wouldnt put up with half of that). Another problem you have here is some tracks play favortism. Whether you want to admit it or not they do. I can tell you a track that does and show you that it does but thats for another day and time. And right now we dont need that. If you are caught illegal then you need to be punished for that and right now we arent getting that. IMCA seems to keep things in check and their car counts are 5 times better than ours. Obviously they are doing something right. I just know we as fans, drivers, car owners, track promotors and track owners can no longer sit back and let it go! Something has to be done now! The times of just brushing it under the rug and doing nothing about it has caught up to us and its time to change. It obvious a few tracks in the area realize something...why else would they do what they done this year with the support class's and the membership? Its now time to put that plan in action and get the ball rolling!
This is probably the best post you've ever made.

Be careful what we ask for. I have never heard so much whining going on when the UMP Sportmod rules came out, and mirrored IMCA. I even lost some friends because of it, but I continued to support them. Then the rules got changed. USRA is closer to what we run in the Sportmod class then IMCA is. I say that the support classes should be something else, but it will take a miracle to get us drivers and promoters together on this subject. We all want what we want and don't care about the next guy.

why should we be careful in what we ask for? If people can not see that U.M.P is not cutting it any more than they are blind as a bat! The sportmods/b-mods whatever you choose to call them in this area can take off and run pretty much with IMCA or USRA.....a few local drivers prooved that by going to Wisconson. Same thing with the pro-4's. Now we come to the hobby stocks and they are limited to only tracks with in 70 miles of St.Louis with the exception of Charleston. That class is completly different at different tracks so there for they can not take off and go run other tracks!! They dont have a uniformed set of rules! We need a sanctioning body in the lower classes that will be uniformed in all areas and will show some force in the rules! There is alot of cheating going on in that class right now but due to no teching its starting to get out of control! Lets face it....the person leading the national points in the hobby stocks would not be leading them right now had the track earlier in the year done what they are supposed to when he got caught with the mono ball bushings in the rearend! So honestly what good are rules if your not going to enforce them? If thats the way they want to play then make it a run what ya brung! Either way you can bet your tail im going to be at the meeting in Effingham and you can bet im going to pay very close attention to what area promoters are there and what they have to say also! I just hope that if they do choose to drop U.M.P they dont wait until the last minute to inform everyone of it after people have started working on their cars! Time will tell i guess.

They were just following usra or imca and didnt look at the whole picture you don t want membership geuss what they all have fees thats how they survive

a USRA membership is $90 and I think it is mandatory as well i believe. I dont have a problem with either sanctioning body. Even with USRA the tech is up to the local track. I went to Humboldt and the USRA guys were very tough on tech. I had to cut an inch off my sail panels, had to lower my rear deck an inch on one side, etc or i couldnt race. the top 5 each night got pumped and checked and their cars were IMPOUNDED OVER NIGHT! at that fountain city race they had tech guys with USRA shirts on that didnt check anything. I could have had a 406 with a 4 barrel on up there. they didnt take my hood off, didnt check bar length, etc. they checked weight and rear deck height. Some of the USRA guys I talked to were even disapointed in the tech up there. Like i said it is up to the local guys. I want to see things checked. if a guy has a 14 1/2 trailing arm, load them up. if they have an illegal body load them up. everything gets over looked. but whatever. The biggest thing I think people have to remember is USRA doesnt allow "good" dart type heads, no roller rockers, 9 to 1 compression, and they only run american racer tires. Not trying to be negative towards anything, just throwing out a few facts.

Again I will clarify my post. This is only about pure stocks and street stocks. You can still use ump for all mods. Ump does not even have a set of rules for pure stock. Tracks use their own rules. Although i wouldnt blame anyone for dumping ump al together.

Faustfan2. Just who are you pointing finger at talking about mono balls? I think I know but was wandering if you would clarify it for all that read this. Its time to man up

Just as I figured,,you need to get facts straight before pointing a finger dude...he has never had mono balls on the car and has never been checked for them. Tell me who the tech guy was that supposedly caught him and me and him will have a face to face discussion,,,,and you are invited to listen in. Plain and simple.

Dude your killing me!!! He was caught at Tri City with mono balls and they told him to have them out in 2 weeks and he took them out and sold them to a guy who runs a U.M.P street stock!! Get your facts straight Mr.Deal! We all know your going to stick up for him because he has the last Nighthawk car built and he bought your jig to build more cars!! Understandable you would stick up for him!! But in all honesty it really doesnt matter now because nothing was done about it at the time he was caught! As far as the person who teched him i cant answer that question because i dont know who it was! But as your name says #1 rule bender!! Have a good day Rodney!

Just figured you would tell everyone the name who teched,,,since everyone elses name came up...I know the facts,,been with the car practically every night it has raced,,I never built cars with mono balls,,,there are several other areas to work on than there. Must have been some one else.

Yes Rodney we know theres other areas to work in like moving the left rear lower control arm lower down on the bracket and lowering the front upper control arms brackets and putting a 85 camero center link on running a half inch longer ball joint in the front uppers......i can go on and on!!

Rodney i tried to avoid all this but as i can see you want to turn this post upside down so go ahead have at it!!

I believe Jacob sold those mono balls to Dennis Wernle 3 years ago. Way before this year when he supposed was caught. But thanks for thr front end tips. Some of those are new to me

I will see you at meeting? We can clear this up there. We do agree on the matter the something needs done. At least we can go listen and see what they have to offer.
