Lebanon, Mo.- Will Vaught continued his recent hot streak, as he won his third $1,000 Late Model purse in a row Saturday night on the high banks of the Lebanon I-44 Speedway.

Vaught brought the field down after earning the pole by passing points in the heat races for the start of the 25-lap feature and would grab the lead going in to turn one bringing second row starter Brian Schutt with him.

Vaught, Schutt, Dave Ware and Jason Meadors all seemed to take off from the rest of the field, while Shane Essary began a hard charge to the front of the field after starting dead last due to problems in his heat race. Essary's night would get worse as bad luck would end his night after a flat left front tire took him out of the action, after making it all the way up to fourth place.

Vaught looked to have to bottom working his way, as he seemed to have the field covered that is until mid race. After a mid race caution bunched the field back up, Schutt went up to the high side of the race track and found the grip he was looking for. Schutt and Vaught raced side by side several laps until Schutt cleared Vaught and looked to leave him behind in the dust.

Schutt looked like he was going to check out, having built a huge lead in less than a lap, until Schutt got a terrible break. A hard three-car crash in turn four, completely destroying veteran Shorty Acker's front end brought out a red flag. Track officials reviewed the scoring back to the lap fully completed lap, which showed Vaught as the leader and putting him back in the lead.

When the race resumed, Vaught was able to hold off a hard charging Schutt to take the victory. Ware would come in third followed by Meadors and Reid Millard, coming from the back of the field, finished in fifth.

The Modified feature saw one of the most exciting and wildest finishes ever seen at a racetrack, with Jesse Stovall beating Jeff Cutshaw to the line by just inches.

Erik Maggard took the early lead of the Modified feature, as Cutshaw, Stovall, and Steve Picou would make it a four-car "battle royal" for the lead. Maggard's night would end early however, as he had to pull off the race track due to overheating problems as soon as Stovall was able to complete the pass. Picou would then have bad luck come his way, as he would cut a tire down while under a caution after making contact with a lap car just before the yellow flag.

Cutshaw and Stovall would then engage in a side-by-side battle the last few laps of the race with Cutshaw on the bottom and Stovall on the top. Cutshaw seemed to have the advantage coming out of turn four until a lap car would lose control in front of the leaders coming to the checkered flag. Stovall never lifted and would pass Cutshaw just before the line and got his $600 check by inches at the finish line. Steve Martin would come in third after starting dead last after having a flat on the way to the racetrack, forcing him to miss his heat race. Jamie Ragland came in a strong fourth place with Mike Striegel coming in fifth.

Jordan Holloway took home yet another Factory Stock feature win, holding off a hard charging Lake Mooneyham, in a race that would have no cautions. David Hendrix, making his first start after a broken wrist in a traffic accident sidelined him the last month, came in third driving with one arm. Gary Chambers and Derrick Peterson would round out the top five.

Josh Woody took home another victory in the Super Stock feature in dominating fashion over Jeff Kinsley. Chuck Avis would come in third, Ted Ballinger fourth and Mike Treadway rounded out the top five.

Jason Huey took home the Bomber feature to round out a crazy night of action. Huey had the bottom working to his advantage and pulled away to the easy win after a late race restart. James Flood inched out Jeff Scroggins at the line, after Flood and fourth place finisher Lonnie Henderson had a side-by-side battle for nearly the entire race. Dusty Rhodes would come home in fifth place, after a good run coming from the back of the field.

The speedway would like to send special thanks out to all of the parents who brought their children out to make the kids bike races a success. Congratulations to all of the winners, and special thanks to Wal-Mart for donating the bikes.

Don't forget this Saturday night is Community Fellowship night at the races this Saturday night. Check the speedway website at www.monettspeedway.com <http://www.monettspeedway.com/> or your local church for more information.
