Denny Hamlin is sponserd by Rockwell Automation in the busch series. I buy a TON of rockwell stuff, so my local distributor scored me some VIP action. Not only did I get the whole hospitality tent thing, I got 2 FULL ACCESS pit and garage passes. Me and my brother in law just waltzed into the pits, and wandered around like we owned the joint.
A rockwell rep who works with the team saw us and virtually adopted us. We got to go hang in the hauler with the crew and bullsh!t with them for about an hour. We got the 5 star guided tour of the whole she-bang (pics coming tommorrow, the bats in the camera need charging).
After they moved the cars to pit road, we were taken over the wall and out to the car, where a NASCAR photog snapped some pics of us.
Then to top it off, we spent the whole race in Denny Hamlins pit box. I mean, leaning up against the war-wagon and everything. . They only asked that we step back when the car came in. I got to stand on pit wall with the crew and watch the race. Since Denny won the pole, he was in the first pit stall, so we just moved up to where the camera for the pit road exit is when he came in . My camera batts died, but my Bro-in-law got some killer photos, which I will pass along. We kinda hit it off with his rear tire carrier, and we got to high-5 the crew after the first pit stop.
Denny lead like 145 of the 200 laps and looked to be a sure lock to win. The rockwell rep told us that we would get to go to victory lane with them if he won. Alas, Carl Edwards won after Denny's crew chief didnt give him tires on the last pit.
But it was still cool as hell. My sister-in-law was watching the race and said she saw me and her husband quite a few times.
If you TIVO the replay on thursday, you will see my fat ***** sitting on the wall during the first or second pit stop. The pit sign for the 64 car blocked my face, but rest assured, it's me.
I'm still sporting wood.
