VMS $3K-TO-Win King Of The Commonwealth This Saturday For FASTRAK

CARNESVILLE, GA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA will host the 40-lap $3,000-to-win, $275-to-start Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth this Saturday night. It will be round two of the 2017 for the FASTRAK Pro Late Model Series South East Region and the season opener for the FASTRAK Pro Late Model Series Mid-Ohio Valley Region.

The entry list for the FASTRAK Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth will feature the top Pro Late Model drivers in the country that have shown in the past they are capable of racing around Virginia Motor Speedway five-wide in their dirt late models powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance 604 Circle Track Engines built and sealed at the factory.

Benji Hicks of Mt. Airy, NC will be looking for his second straight FASTRAK SE win after capturing his first FASTRAK career win last Saturday night at Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, GA. Walker Arthur of Forest, VA is the defending champion of the FASTRAK Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth race and the 2015 FASTRAK World Championship Race winner.

Cla Knight of North Augusta, SC was the 2016 champion of both the FASTRAK SE Region and the FASTRAK MOV Region. The rules meeting in January brought about a change in that no driver can win a championship in multiple Regions. Knight will defend his title in the FASTRAK SE Region, so there will be a new FASTRAK MOV Champion in 2017.

Former FASTRAK SE Region Champions will be among the entrants for the 40-lap $3,000-to-win, $275-to-start Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth on Saturday night at Virginia Motor Speedway. FASTRAK Hall of Fame Inductee David Smith of Inman, SC is a five-time FASTRAK Champion, and Ron Parker of Belwood, NC is a former FASTRAK Champion.

Ryan Montgomery of Fairmont, WV returns to Virginia Motor Speedway where he won the FASTRAK World Challenge Race last September. Henry Hornsby III of Beckley, WV is expected for the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth after winning the FASTRAK Futures Cup in 2016 for drivers 19 years of age and younger.

Several FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series Division Champions from the 2016 will be at Virginia Motor Speedway this Saturday night. Justin Williams of Concord, VA will defend his home turf as the defending Division 5 Champion. Matthew Nance of Rhonda, NC is the defending Division 2 Champion, and Tyler Arrington of Rural Retreat, VA is the defending Division 3 Champion.

Chris Steele of York, SC will roll into Virginia Motor Speedway on Saturday night as the 2016 FASTRAK SE Rookie of the Year. Other top entries expected for the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth include Jensen Ford of Piney Flats, TN, Teddy Tate of Rural Retreat, VA, Phillip Thompson of Morristown, TN, Corey Gordon of Charlotte, NC, Tyler Bare of Rockridge Baths, VA, Chris Ferguson of Mt. Holly, NC, and Jimmy Mac of Mooresville, NC.

While the 40-lap $3,000-to-win, $275-to-start Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth this Saturday night at Virginia Motor Speedway is a big race in itself for the FASTRAK Pro Late Model Series, many competitors also see it as a paid tune up race for the highest paying weekend in all of Pro Late Model racing, the 15th Annual World Championship Race Weekend on September 15-16.

The weekend at Virginia Motor Speedway starts with the $5,000-to-win World Challenge Race for FASTRAK Members only on September 15. Then on September 16, it’s the $20,000-to-win 15th Annual FASTRAK World Championship Race open to all competitors.

The Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth is also a rare opportunity for the FASTRAK Pro Late Models to share the racing program with its sister series, the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series. The ULTIMATE Super Late Models will be competing in a 60-lap $20,000-to-win, $575-to-start race this Saturday night at Virginia Motor Speedway.

On Saturday at Virginia Motor Speedway, the pit gate opens at 3 p.m., with FASTRAK Pre-Race Registration and Technical/Safety Inspection from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Drivers need to bring their helmets and head and neck restraint systems to Tech along with their race car. The Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., and Hot Laps are set for 6 p.m.
