CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (March 5, 2008) – South Mississippi Speedway’s added another racer to the Southern RANKINGS Saturday night, contesting the “Frostbite 50” $5,000. to-Win, Mississippi State Champions Challenge series race. The INTIMAGATOR Chris Wall of Holden, LA comes to the Southern RANKINGS party, now in a three-way tie for the points lead, joining BAMA BASH winner and former WORLD 100 winner and Hav-A-Tampa National Champion: Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Georgia and ICE BOWL winner and former Cleveland (TN) Speedway Track Champion Bobby Mayse of Harrison, Tennessee with a win apiece. Besides Wall piloting the # 71 “C&M Gator Farm, Gator Trax Boats, Stuckey Enterprises, Calico Coatings” sponsored MasterSbilt, Wall 2 Wall powered, Chevrolet Monte Carlo to victory, 2007 Southern RANKINGS Champion Dennis RAMBO Franklin notched his first tally of 2008 Sunday, running second in the March Madness 60 at his home-track in Gaffney, South Carolina.
Franklin is all tied up with three (3) other racers Anthony Hill of Carrollton, GA, two-time Dirt Track World Champion Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN, and Tim Roszell a local Alabama racer from the Talladega area. At press-time cold weather is playing a major factor in the postponement of most races, this the second weekend of March 2008. Currently the United Dirt Late Model Challenge series at Hendry Co. Speedway in Clewiston, Florida is still a go for Saturday night (paying $5,000. to-Win) as are the Carolina Clash series and Southern All-Star series races in North Carolina and Georgia. As for the United Mid-Western Promoter series Toilet Bowl Classic at Clarksville (TN) Speedway and the unsanctioned Rebel Challenge at Columbus (MS) Speedway, they have both been postponed, for a later date. To receive rankings in National and Regional standings in 2008, a racer must not compete in more the 2/3 of National Conference Championship RANKINGS events within a one month time period.
