we raced each other on many a night, passed me on the last lap at the tolit (st.chas)bowl to win the feature,,a few years later at the nationals at I55 he had missed the show, that was the year i drove dandy dons car but broke it on the first night,,perry trip was driving my vega and had the show made,,so,i borrowed it back for the semi,,ya had to finish in the top 6,i was running second, had the show made but would have to give the car back to tripp,,7th paid $250,,.so on the last lap i pulled up high and counted cars,,droped in behind the 6th place car,,,later on that night i was talkking to garvase and he said he would have let me run his car in the 75 lapper..thats what kind of a guy he was always willing to help a fellow racer RIP cowboy...........lenny garson

My thoughts and prayers are with the Basler family.. We raced against him many times and always enjoyed listening to his racing stories. God Bless him.

When I told my dad that he had passed, my dad started telling me stories about him....he said Gervase was always telling jokes.....he'd get into a wreck on the track, get out of his car and crack a joke about it.....never got worked up about anything.....:)

My good friend and mentor was laid to rest today surrounded by lots of family ,friends and fans.....Escorted by the Patriot Riders......Full Military Honors and a beautiful service......I am a better person for having known you......Joe
