Heavy rain overnight made it impossible for Knoxville Raceway officials
to prepare the racetrack for Saturday’s 45th Annual Knoxville
Nationals, forcing the prestigious $140,000-to-win event to be delayed
until Sunday.

In addition, the non-qualifiers show originally scheduled for Friday
that was already delayed until Saturday afternoon will now be run at
noon on Sunday.

Race director Ralph Capitani said the track was too dangerous to race
on, and even if the persistent rain was to stop Saturday afternoon,
there would not be enough time to work it into race condition.

The Nationals, schedule to air at 8 p.m. Central on SPEED Channel will
be tape-delayed and carried at 8 p.m. Central on Aug. 20. Tonight, the
network will air the 360 Nationals.
