Zionsville, IN (May 4, 2009) “The MoonMan” Jim Moon and the MoonMan Racing Team made their first visit of the year to the Kamp Motor Speedway in Boswell, IN this past Saturday night to compete in the UMP Super Late Model division. Jim Moon, who was driving his #1, GM “604” Crate Engine powered, ROCKET Chassis Crate Late Model qualified in the thirteenth position giving him a fifth place starting position in the first of three heats. Moon advanced two positions in the heat race giving him a seventh place starting position in the Feature Event. Even though Moon was under powered compared to the Super Late Models he was able to race his way to a top five finish in the Feature at Kamp Motor Speedway.

“We feel pretty good about finishing fifth here at Kamp” said Moon after the Feature. “Anytime we can compete against a field of Super Late Models with our Crate motor and do well…well, I think it speaks volumes of our program” Moon added.

As soon as the Feature was over Jim Moon and the MoonMan Racing Team loaded up and headed for Vermilion County Speedway in Danville, IL to participate in the Crate Late Model division. Moon and crew were initially told they would be allowed to tag on to the tail of the field for the Crate Late Model Feature, but after arriving at VCS they were told they could not compete.

“We called ahead to see if they would let us race, they told we could so we immediately packed up after the feature at Kamp and headed down to Danville. Then when we arrived at the track we was told we couldn’t race. They didn’t even have a full field of cars and I thought they would be happy to get another one” Said Moon about not being able to race at Vermilion County Speedway. “We have had a number of phone calls from friends and fans about not being able to race at Danville and I would like to take the time to apologize to all the MoonMan Racing Fans. We are not sure why the decision was made to not let us race after being told we could, but it was out of our hands. Maybe we can get it straightened out and make it back over there. We like the track and appreciate the fans support” Moon went on to say.

Jim Moon and the MoonMan Racing Team would like to thank all their fans for their continued support. As always, Jim Moon and the entire MoonMan Racing Team would like to invite all race fans to stop by the MoonMan Racing Pit area to visit and pick up your MoonMan memorabilia.
