Weekly Racing Program Underway At West Plains Motor Speedway

Cool temperatures didn't deter the determined.....weekly racer turned out for the second week of points races at the first Law Enforcement Appreciation display sponsored by Medlock Truss Co., of Ash Flat, AR.

Blake Medlock and Greg Lute, representing Medlock Truss, welcomed representative from the Missouri Highway Patrol, Howell County Sheriff's department, and the West Plains City Police as they made the parade lap during our National Anthem opening the evenings events.

The IMCA feature was won by Shawn Walsh of Ash Flat, AR. Carmon Vincent of West Plains, took the lead and maintained that spot for the first quarter of the event then Todd Clifford of Paragould took over. Walsh gained control in the later half of the race and led a strong field across the finish line as 26 modified took the green. Second was Billy Romans of West Plains, followed by Kevin Salter of Batesville, AR, Jason Meadors of Fordland, MO, and Todd Clifford rounded out the top five.

The Super Stock feature was won by West Plains veteran, Stan Ellison. Kelly Cody of Birch Tree, finished second followed by Jesse Brotherton of Pomona, Andy Collins of West Plains and Joe Davenport of Summit, AR.

Brad Gayer of Houston, MO, triumphed over the field of Hobby Stock drivers taking the victory. Rounding out the top five were Paula Ross of Flippin, AR, Billy "Turk" Johns of Hardy, AR, Fred Scarbrough of Koshkonong, MO, and Tyson Troutman of Houston, MO.

The Cruiser class saw a repeat winner when Bob Johnson and son, Jason Johnson of Hardy, AR, took the victory. Second was Andrew Harden of West Plains, followed by David Wood of Batesville, AR, Jeff North of Willow Springs, MO, and Jody Jones of Raymondville, MO.

Russell Truitt of Hardy, AR, made his first appearance on Victory Lane and he was followed across the finish by Jim Simmons, of West Plains and Patrick Reed of Willow Springs, MO.

Sunday's events sponsored by The Fox 96.9 fm, were postponed until next week due to the inclement weather. The Scout Appreciation event will be moved to next Sunday, April 13, as well.

The first appearance of the MARS Late Models will be presented next Saturday, April 12, and is sponsored by Pizza Hut. Additional information is available by calling the office at (870) 994-7447 or the track at (417) 257-2112.
