(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) The Wendell Wallace Autosports team debuted a new MasterSbilt Race Car last weekend for a pair of Stacker2 Mid-America Racing Series (MARS) events. The new J&J Steel / JFR Graphics / Garrett Racing #88 MasterSbilt / Gaerte Grand Prix made its debut last Saturday evening at the I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas. Wendell finished second in his heat, but battled for the lead before being involved in a wreck. The Batesville, Arkansas driver wound up finishing eighth in the final rundown of the $3,000 to win feature event.

Sunday night took “The Batesville Bullet” to the Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri for another $3,000 to win MARS show. After winning his heat race, Wendell put his new MasterSbilt chassis out in front of the field in the early stages of the event. While leading, Wendell hit the wall and knocked his spoiler off. After pitting to repair the damage, Wendell returned to the racing surface, only to break a driveshaft. He wound up finishing a very disappointing twentieth.

“It just wasn’t our weekend, but that is how the last month and a half has been for us,” stated Wallace on Wednesday. “Our new MasterSbilt car was good and I felt like we had a chance to win both of those shows over the weekend. The car was comfortable, but we didn’t know what changes to make to the car and when to make those changes. That will come with time though.
It probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do switching chassis manufacturers in the middle of the season like that, but we felt like we had to do something different.”

Wendell is still uncertain about the upcoming weekend. He would prefer to go to the annual ‘North-South 100’ at the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky to compete for the $50,000 top prize. However, as of Wednesday afternoon his car is not close to being ready to go to Florence. If Wendell does not make it up to the Commonweath State of Kentucky this weekend, he will head to the Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri on Saturday for a $3,000 to win MARS event. Wendell is third in the MARS Series point standings and has registered three wins, ten Top Five finishes, and eleven Top Ten runs in the seventeen series events held so far this season.
