(Batesville, AR) Wendell Wallace Autosports competed in the UMP Tri-State Challenge this past weekend, as they took their MSE Distributing / J&J Steel backed #88 GRT / Keith Craft Ford Taurus to three different tracks in three different states in three consecutive days. The action kicked off on Friday night at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, IL. On Saturday, the team traveled south to I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO and then traveled back east on Sunday for another event at the Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, IN. All three events paid $10,000 to win and if a driver was able to win 2 of the 3 events, they would pick up an extra $10,000 bonus.

At Farmer City, Wendell struggled throughout the event, but was able to make the feature event by finishing in the second and final transfer position in one of the consolation events. He never could get anything going in the feature and finished in the 22nd position. At Pevely on Saturday, Wendell ran better in preliminary action and was able to make the main event by finishing second in his heat race. However, the feature outcome was much the same. The team ended up with a disappointing 21st place finish.

Things got better last night on the final night of the Tri-State Challenge, as they posted second quick time at the flat, ½-mile oval in downtown Terre Haute. Wendell was also able to finish second in the dash, which sets the starting lineup of the first three rows. This would give Wendell and the team an outside front row position for the feature event. The car was good enough to compete throughout the race, but not good enough to compete for the win. Wendell brought the #88 home in the sixth place position, which was his best finish of the weekend.

Wendell Wallace Autosports will try their luck again this weekend as they travel to the richest paying race in Dirt Late Model racing this year. The $100,000 to win Dream 100 will kick off this Friday night with qualifying at the world-famous Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH. Heat races, consolation action, and the 100-lap feature event are scheduled for Saturday night.
