(Batesville, AR) Wendell Wallace Autosports racked up two runner-up finishes this past weekend, as they competed at Tulsa Speedway in Tulsa, OK on Friday night and Wheatland Raceway in Wheatland, MO the following night. Both races were MARS-sanctioned races and paid $3,000 to win.

On Friday at Tulsa, Wendell picked up a heat race win in his J&J Steel, MSE Distributing #88 GRT Ford Taurus. He started third in the feature event and took the lead on lap 22, but quickly lost that lead position and fell to second. He could never get back around fellow GRT racer Terry Phillips and settled for a strong second place outing.

It was a similar night for the #88 team on Saturday night at Wheatland. He picked up a heat race win again and started fifth in the $3,000 to win show on Saturday night. Wendell would once again finish in the runner-up spot to Terry Phillips on this night at pick up the $2,000 second place check.

Wendell will be looking for a win tomorrow night at Joplin 66 Speedway in Joplin, MO when the Xtreme DirtCar Series rolls into town. The 50-lap, $10,000 to win show will be broadcast live over the Internet on the Xtreme DirtCar Series website, located at www.xtremedirtcars.com. Wendell captured one the previous Xtreme races held at Joplin when he picked up the win in 2000. Wendell will then travel back home to Batesville Speedway in Locust Grove, AR for the annual running of the Comp Cams Topless 100. This year’s edition will pay a whopping $42,000 to win and $2,000 to start. Wendell was runner-up in last year’s controversial race and won the Topless back in 1998.
