(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Wendell Wallace and his team headed to Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS for the 14th Annual Magnolia State 100. This year’s edition of the storied southern event paid $20,003 to the winner for his efforts in the 60-lap feature event. Wendell, a two-time winner of the event, qualified solidly in the top ten and finished second in his heat race to earn an outside fifth row starting position for the feature. The MSE Distributing / J&J Steel #88 GRT / Craft Ford Taurus battled diligently throughout the 60-lapper, but could only get up to the fifth place spot by the end of the race.

“The fast groove was up on the top in the feature,” said Wendell’s long-time crew chief Todd “Little Man” Moser. “It was kind of hard to pass, but we caught (third and fourth place finishers) Ray Cook and Shane Clanton late in the race. We just ran out of laps.”

“The Batesville Bullet” will take the track again this weekend at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA for the annual Hardee’s Xtreme Shootout Presented by Coca-Cola. This year’s edition of the Shootout will pay $55,000 to the winner and will be taped by the SPEED Channel for viewing later in the fall. Wendell captured the 1996 version of this event and hopes to become only the third driver to capture two Shootout victories.
