(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Wendell Wallace reached victory lane twice last weekend in Stacker2 Mid-America Racing Series (MARS) racing action. The pair of wins were Wendell’s first two victories in the young 2005 season. “The Batesville Bullet” took the win at the West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO on Saturday night after passing Jack Sullivan on the high side of turn four on the last lap. He had hounded Sullivan throughout the course of the event until lapped traffic opened up the door for Wendell to take the win.

He backed up that performance with another victory the following evening at the Monett Speedway in Monett, MO. The driver of the J&J Steel / JFR Graphics #88 GRT / Gaerte Grand Prix fell back to ninth in the early portion of the main event, but rebounded to take the lead in the later stages. Both victories were worth $3,000 to the Wendell Wallace Autosports team.

In addition to his two victories over the weekend, Wendell also finished a solid fourth in the opening event of the MARS tripleheader weekend on Friday night at the Memphis Motorsports Park in Memphis, TN. The Batesville, AR driver was forced to take a provisional after distributor problems hampered him in both the heat race and consolation event. Despite the race being cut in length because of rough track conditions, Wendell still made a strong charge to the front.

“It was a great weekend for us, the kind that every one of them is supposed to be,” chuckled the veteran driver today. “The race at West Plains went caution free and I chased Jack (Sullivan) the entire race. He got held up in lapped traffic on the last lap and I was able to make the pass on the outside. Then we had another strong run at Monett on Sunday despite falling back to ninth. I think we had a shot at possibly sweeping the weekend if the race at Memphis wasn’t cut short, but we will never know. If every weekend could be like that, we could make some money!”

The Wendell Wallace Autosports team is unsure of where they will compete this weekend. A decision will be made later in the week between the events at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, TX and the Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. Both events will pay $10,000 to the winner. Wendell will be watching the weather this week and will make a decision on Thursday. When a decision is made, you can find it out first at www.wendellwallace.com.
