(Batesville, Arkansas) Wendell Wallace Autosports competed at a couple of different events this past weekend as their plans were changed at the last minute. Wendell and his team were slated to compete at the $11,000 to win James King Memorial on both Friday and Saturday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. However, after a disappointing qualifying night on Friday night and the threat of inclement weather, the team decided to forego their third starting position in one of the last chance races and head to the Outlaw Motor Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma for an unsanctioned $10,000 to win event.

In Muskogee, Wendell had an up and down night as he qualified well and raced well in the heat race, but fell victim to mechanical woes during the feature event. Wendell started the feature from the ninth position, which was actually the outside of the third row because of the unique 10 row, 3 wide starting formation that was used for the event. He was forced to retire from the event prematurely due primarily to brake problems and had to settle for a 25th place finish.

Wendell and his team will look for much better finishes this coming weekend as they will tackle three tracks in three nights with the MARS Racing Series. On Friday night, the team will head to Wendell’s home track of Batesville Speedway outside of Batesville, Arkansas. On Saturday, the “Batesville Bullet” will pilot his J&J Steel / MSE Distributing #88 GRT “House Car” Ford Taurus at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, Missouri. Last year, Wendell picked up the $36,000 to win ‘Show-Me 100’, which is also held at WPMS each Memorial Day weekend. Wendell Wallace Autosports will wrap up the weekend at the Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri on Sunday night. All three MARS sanctioned events will pay $3,000 to win.
