Western KY Speedway was back in action last night with a regular racing event. Things kicked off with Open Wheel qualifying with a light field of 11 mods on hand. Fast qualifier for the night was Crofton, KY's Trent Young.
Mod heat winners were: Young and Morton Gap, KY's Michael Coakley.

Feature action started up with nearly 20 Pure Stocks taking the green. Jumping out front and never looking back was Sacramento, KY's Teddy Revlett as he drove his Green #34, Wesley's Automotive, Z's Muffler mount into victory lane. He was followed by Brian Markam, Shelli Obryan and Jay Massey.

Street Stock was a fight to the finish as attrition played a big factor in the event. The race started out with around 14 cars and ended with only 6. Dr. Travis Wilson and points leader Damion Fortune would bring them down for the start and after two trys and unable to get a good heads up start the front two moved back one row and but Brad Giffin and Ben Cox to the point. THe green waved and cox would jump out to lead thru turn one until Wilson would make a bold 3 wide move in 2 for the lead and never look back. Wilson drove his Wilson's Family Dentistry, Braces, Braces, Braces yellow #17 Chevy to victory lane followed by Ben Cox, Brian Steele (Driving the Rex Rutter car after his wild ride last week) Randy Lane would be 4th. Points leader suffered bad luck on the start as the rear end appeared to lock up out of 4 and he pile drived the front stretch wall and ended his chances of a 4 in a row sweep of street stock features.
Open Wheel Mods came up next with Coakley and Young on the front row. The drivers smashed the loud pedal and the excitement heated up! Clayton Miller would jump out to the lead out of turn 4 and lead thru turn 2 running the bottom then Coakley would get a huge bite off turn 2 and motor on past on top down the back stretch. The two would battle it out until a drive-shaft would come out of the #0 of Brad Mitchell down the back stretch and cause a major bunch up in turn 4 with Paul Miles and Troy English getting the worse end of the stick. Mile and English would hang together in the turn after trying to avoid the drive-shaft and the slowing car of Mitchell and both cars went into the guard-rail. Both cars made quick stops for repair and came back to fall on the tail of the field. The show would then turn to watching miles pick his way thru the field. on the drop of the green Miles would motor past 4 cars and put himself in 6th position. Coakley continued to lead with pressure from Trent Young and Clayton Miller. Young would jump the tators in turn 4 and allow Randle Sweeney around for 3rd. Miles then follows same suit as Young and jumps onto the rail with the right-side onto of the rail and high-sides it in turn 3. Miles quickly gases the car to keep it right side up and never looses a position.
They finish up the event with Coakley picking up his first win of the 2004 season followed by Clayton Miller (#15 in Nation) Randle Sweeney (12 in Nation) Trent young (64th in Nation) and Paul Miles( 38th in Nation).

Cruiser feature went to the track and was a rather calm event with Jason Capps picking up the win out of Calhoun, KY driving his cow car #93 sponsored by Speed Shops Plus. He was followed across the line by KC Hibbs, William Crunican and Wayne Smith.
