What is the deal race tracks?

What has happened to officiating?

Most of the tracks in the area have officials standing in each turn, on the back stretch, in the flag stand and other places. Pretty much all they seem to be doing is waving a flag when necessary...

I've been to a lot of races in the last month and I have seen countless number of times when a car gets into the back of the car in front of them and spins them around and they only send the car that was spun to the back. Absolutely no punishment to the driver that caused it in the first place.

And then officials wonder why they have all this fighting going on... If the officials don't do anything to the one that causes the spin, then the drivers take things upon themselves and either fight or retaliate on the track.

Another good line I hear from officials is, "I was the guy take him out, but it wasn't in my corner so it isn't my place to make the call"... What???? Whatever happened to getting things RIGHT!!!

you know what drives me nuts? people that either cant control their car or just think they can use the hole race track. i will anounce this right now: one of these nights, i am going to try to pass the wrong person, they are going to chop me off, and they are going to end up in the parking lot or hanging up on top of a billboard. this happens every night. unless someone is a second faster than the field, they have no business using up the whole track.

You have been getting better week in and week out. And i dont blame you for doing wht seems...........you may have to do. I dont get and never have gotten why if a guy has a struggling car...........he thinks its ok to go low and push all the way up the track or zigzag. I always tried to drive within the cars means.

My guess is they are just doing it for the cash. I've been a corner man in the past, but I did it for the love of the sport. If they don't get support from the "boss" it makes the job more difficult. JMO. There is also too much "back scratching" going on,which has gotten worse over the years. I call it video game racing, this is not "Need For Speed" or "Gran Turismo".

My pet peeve is drivers who intentionally cause a caution. Here is an example of what’s becoming a far too frequently occurrence. Last night at Tri-City one of the support class cars spun into the infield in a turn. The yellow didn’t come out so seeing he would be stranded in the infield this driver pulled out onto the track and stopped facing the wall and partially blocking the track. The yellow was dropped and he was placed at the back of the field. The track rule is “3 – Any car causing an INTENTIONAL YELLOW will be Black Flagged for that race.” Guess in all the excitement I must have missed that black flag?

the track don`t want to be the bad guy if they don`t put them to the back of the field it`s not there fault then when they get to the pits like you said a fight starts then its on the drivers not the track, but if ya watch it is usually the same drivers over and over again that are driving wild and using the whole track at someone else`s expense and tearing up someone else`s cars

The intentional yellows are what drives me crazy. I can see both sides I suppose, but there needs to be a uniform rule....and I like the idea of black flagging the driver. Moon got upset that the flagman didn't throw the yellow at Brownstown Thursday, he kept inching closer to the track so he'd throw the yellow, but it never happened. I was glad to see it.

I believe UMP could step it up and get these tracks together on some rules. AT Least get them together on this subject(Cautions) I get ticked on the first lap cautions! If a guy CAUSES a caution, whether it's the first lap or last lap, he should get sent to the back. Saw a driver damage 4 or 5 cars on a start and restarted in his same position, which happened to be in the second row. So his screw up damaged the couple of rows behind him and he gets a "gimme" back to the second row ahead of the cars he damaged. I hate to compare it to Nascar, but alot of them seem to be making up the rules as they go along!

This happended to us just last night at Callaway. A driver that likes to bully his way around the track deliberitly slammed us and had us turned completely sideways into turn 4 almost right in front of the flagmans own eyes and nothing was called. After the race we went to the officials and they said "oh well", what they dont realize or care is the speeds these cars run there is a possiblity of serious bodily injury. They all have the attitude "well we got your money so just shut up and race". Oh yeah and the guy that slammed us wanted to stop by our pits and say he was on the brakes, that is the EXACT same line he told the points leader at Moberly the Sunday before as he tried to take him out also.

Track officials need to be firm and consistant with their calls....."no back scratching"....don't be afaid to make someone mad and don't play favorites!! One week a driver can bounce off of all the cars on the track-no call made. The next week a differant driver does a little rubbing-yellow flag comes out and that driver goes to the tail.

I was wandering the same thing Jimmy,,,,also last night Moyer spun on the opening lap and got his spot back,,,Kelby Simmons spun on the opening lap in the mods and got sent to the back,,why? Consistency means nothing.

Yes and so did the car you was talking about who brought out the yellow after spinning out. If you noticed a car spun him in the middle of 3 and 4, but who gets put to the back after being told both was going to the back. I guess if it would have been the 01 things would look different in your eyes huh ?

I don't blame that driver for doing it the point is the rules aren't being enforced. I point out this incident because it’s such a clear case of an intentional caution. This happens to some degree numerous times each night. Besides grouping the field back together, which takes away the excitement of the leaders dealing with lap traffic, think of all the time that’s wasted. If the 01 wants to pull onto the track from the infield and stop they can black flag him too. As Jimmy D. asks “What has happened to officiating?”

Pro4 Race

I agree completely with you Jimmy. Heres a great example-Rob Shaw put up the video from the pro4 feature 2 last saturday night at pevely. you can clearly see me (the white and pink car) hold my line through 1-2 and then get slammed and spun out- I was put to the back when it was clearly not my fault and that car that took me out did not. Something wrong with that if you ask me!

Below should be the video. It happens after the second restart about a lap back into the race. If this link doesnt work its available under the pro4 section on stl.

Just My Opinion, and next time I hope I am not penalized for speaking my mind with respect.

The Late Model portion of the show last night was sanctioned and officiated by UMP. The call to put Moyer back in his spot was made by UMP not Tri-City. The call on the 808 car on the 1st lap was made by Tri-City, if you are involved in or cause a yellow you go to the tail.

Hope this explains the Call / Non Call.

Thanks, Kevin

i also see a black flag on the flag stand but most of the time they don't use it i have seen times when it should have been used either use it or get rid of it.
