Whats Up With The Lm's At Monkey County

First, when it comes to car count money talks and BS walks. If he post a good pay out and does not punish the guys who do show up for those who don't he would have as good a car count as anyone.

Seccond, they do have a reputation for being slick, hard on tires, and bumby. Its a imperfect world dirt is not always smooth when it is slick, especially at newer tracks, I do not care on this one, but some do.

Third, this time of year is when alot of racers take weeks off due to burn out, money issues, family vacations, honey do projects ect. Everyones car count suffers a little when it first gets really hot.

Car counts will rebound and fall off again before the season is over everywhere.

I personally chose not to take my race car back there do to the car count based low payout. I really had a good time racing there, I think it is a really fun place, but I could not tow past the best paying racetrack in several states to race for peanuts.

grooveCRAPPER--your all bark and no bite.all you do is talk sh!t to everyone on here saying you can do this and you can do that.you havent showed me a thing,we been waiting on you all year.besides, your the one who couldnt handle it in the big leagues and had to move down!speaking of (p.o.s) cars and (turd) motors, how are yours doing,or are ya still flinstoning it!

i would like to know how many rpm the crates are turning weekly, and how many nights they are getting on them.i bet the limited motors are getting twice what they are, turning 8000rpm a weekend,or i turn mine that atleast..most limiteds only have a few more thousand dollars in them then the gm604.

Well Mr.Potter (Racer94) you are always on here talking about your super motor program and all kinds of crap. When your car ran at MCS a couple of weeks ago there was a Crate Model out there running also, and you Limited was not keeping up with the Fast Trak car. Granted you were not driving it, but with that being said I watch you every week at Fulton and you are lap traffic and in the the way, that is if you finish the race. You're a joke, you talk about being the next superstar, well maybe you should try finishing a race on the lead lap before trying to be the next self proclaimed star. Give it a rest or get a clue.

That was the #99 of Eric Rudd, he runs the smaller of the two crate engines which is the #602.

Yep, the truth comes out. Your always bads mouthing crates like your to good and your cars to good and your motors to fast when in reality your a field filler who is insecure about 95% of the crate guys being better drivers than you.

Oh yea, find a post by me where I say anything about being so great, and this and that. Truth is I'm not where I'd like to be, but who is. But what I am is someone who won races in steel blocks who decided to try mods again and have been a top 5 car everywhere I have went. I dont know where this big league stuff comes from, I think your jaw moves and your brain cant keep up.

Matter of fact, I am contemplating buying a crate car for next year, because I like the program and I have personally raced with 75%of the racers and all of the top 5 in points and these guys are racers, not neverwillbe's like yourself. They dont pack themselves on the back every other post like you do, the record shows that you can TALK shocks, and springs, and engines, and gears, and suspensions, as can be seen by your record of posts, but theres one thing you just cant do, no matter how fast your lips or fingers move, and thats DRIVE!!!

Just a couple questions because i am curious and don't know......

1. How much HP does a crate motor have?
2. Is the car the same as say Dixon's car just with a smaller motor?
3. Can they run all the good bolt on stuff to the motor? Berts or Brinn's?
4. And about how much does someone with really good stuff have tied up in the entire car race ready?

I am not asking these things because i want to rip on them or anything. I just want to know simply because i have never read too much into this class. The more and more i keep hearing it though the more i think it will be a really good class in the future. Heck who knows if a track decides to take them on as a weekly show i maybe interested in getting one of these some day. No time soon though.....lol....I will stay with my sportsman car for now since that is all i can afford..... :D . Like i said i am just a curious person that would like to know about those question. Thanks in advance.

Tom

They are just like full out UMP LM's. There are 2 engines 1 is like 355 HP the other is like 400HP (I think thats what I remember) if you have the bigger crate you have to weigh more though.

Trace how many nights did you have on your motor, or anybody else that runs a super and is now sidelined.

I had like 8 or 9 races on the motor. Best I can tell we had a rod bearing failure possibly started by a loose fuel filter fitting letting air into the system. It wasnt an oiling problem or outrite rod failure. I could be back together for probably a couple grand. Now Kims motor is another issue It lasted 6 or 7 laps and proke a main cap due to engine builders under estimation of HP, He has a dyno and we told him not to run it, due to Kim wanting to run ASAP. Guess we shoulda had him run it. We could also get hers back together for a couple grand too, It didnt even hurt the crank. But Like I said earlier I am growing my business and need every $ I can, we probably rushed getting Kims latemodel done and I shoulda put a Spare motor together. I try to run my racing program on a budget and I exceded it already, so its time to take a break. I do consider my racing as a business not a hobby. Its a great write off thats for sure. Although 8 or 9 years ago I nearly broke even when racing a mod, and didnt even have a feature win.

Appears to me that a bunch of racers who are against crates are only TALKING about racing- (sitting on the sideline with broke down stuff) while the crate model guys ARE RACING.
I would rather be racing than talking about racing. JMHO

roadrunner--yuour right i wasnt driving the car at montgomery, trace westling was telling me all night that i needed to be the one in the car.had i been in the car i can gaurantee the crate car would have got blown away!.second i see how good you watch the races cause i am in the front most every weekend at callaway and always get caught in the BS..last week i was running third and my sail panel blew off,so i got sent to the back then ending the night getting into a slower car.i have a new 4 bar car now and i also been running california missouri and out of the last 2 weeks i have came home with 2nd and 3rd with all the heavy hitters from CMS.ive won both heats i been in there as well as the dash.2 weeks ago when i ran 2nd i had about a straitaway lead on third place and was about 2 cars from bodenhammer.so before you speak like you know what you are talking about, know all the facts and you get a damn clue.groove i can pull up a post where you were talkin of being the gretest driver, with the greatest motor around, when the simple fact is your no better then the average joe.i havent had a break out year this year by no means, but i havent done to bad either and it gets better week after week.i get better week after week, and for being my first year in a late model i have finished in the top 5 more times then i havent.i move forward not back like yourself..i not only know my shocks, springs, and engines, but i can DRIVE..and yes i will be big someday!

now the crate talk..everyone is talkin about motors being sidelined.the only reason trace had 2 motors sidelined is because of the builder, otherwise he'd still be on the track.he had ALOT of time on his motor before it got rebuilt.i have about 750 laps on my motor,i turn it 8000 a weekend and i have a few more thousand in it than a gm604 like i said earlier.dont get me wrong i like the idea of the crates, but i wish they would use a motor that created a little more HP and had a little better parts.they could be sealed just like they are now.i like the payout, and everything else about the crates...another thing i wanna hit on is a few guys have said that used crate motors are becoming available so that helps to cheapin crate racing.how long do you really think a used crate will last with stk crank, rods?

Im not sure about a used one but they have been getting 60 or so nights out of the new ones down south!

thats not to bad really, better then i thought they would do.but at only 400hp your not really beating on the rod bolts and bearings..what is the weight on this class?

I am starting to think these CRATE HATERS have more money than sense. Building motors that only last 6 or 7 nights (Engine builders fault or not) they still had them build thier motors. Take some of that money and spend it with a very competent engine builder for instance try GM PERFORMANCE PARTS. Horsepower is critical but a good driver and good set-up will out run Horsepower.

I think its has become the"American Way" to bash new ideas and new concepts. I say these guys should be patted on the back for having the ballz to try something new. It was a big risk but it looks like its going to work. I applaud you all!!

Part-time racers

I think something else to consider when it comes to car count, is the number of cars that only run part-time. Several drivers plan vacations and other events now that they've gotten older, in lieu of racing, and just a few years back would have never considered missing a night of racing for anything. Now a child's event can encourage a driver to miss a night of racing on a 95deg + night. Unless I am just missing the boat here, there aren’t a lot of new drivers or teams every year. I know for the team that I work with, if we run (10) times a year, we've ran a lot. Food for thought..............

Enjoy the races, and support the men & women that provide the freedom that allows us to live in this great country.

Thats quite an imagination you have ther Racer94. Up front everyweek, maybe when you start up front you might be there for a lap or two until everybody goes by you. I have never seen you beat Scotty Middaugh, and he is always in first, so how is it your up front every week, you also drove the same way in you modified last year. So why didn't you run the car at MCS? As far as being big someday, I huess you already are9 A big Jackass that is) See ya around...

Ouch! Your right though. Either that or I'm gonna need more money. I'm trying the money thing first its what I've allways done. In 1999 I lost 6 motors, albeit they were limited they were still 10k each or so (compareable to most UMPmod motors), I'd raced 8 years before that and never lost one. Had to take the following three years off and move from Denver to Fulton where the cost of living was less just to recover from the loss. I finally started running again and lost another, thats when I put Kim back in a car. Now we are both in that boat. Someday Mabe I'll be sold on the Idea. Nice beautifull weekends setting at home rather than at the track does make you think. Mabe just Mabe??????

Trace, Hope you dont think this was directed only at you. I just see lots of guys who are in this position. I am just saying that if a racers motor budget was limited then this crate thing might be a good thing to look at.

shows how good you watch the races roadrunner, cause scotty hasnt won the last 3 races deushbag!and actually i have beat him in the heat once and probably would have in the feature had he not gotten under me and jumped the start.also i guess you wasnt there the weekend i come from 11th to 3rd setting behind jeffries and middaugh??i never said i won the feature,i said up front and your right i am always there until some jackass sideswipes me or spins in front of me.i have been a top runner(top 3) so far every week at california with better cars then that of fulton,so you must have selective eyes.also i know you are full of **** because i didnt run my mod last year, try again(you really dont know what your talkin about).. you talk alot and dont even have a car,you must be one of them stands racers that dont know racing from a hole in the ground.i always like the guy that sets in the stands and thinks he knows it all, when frankly you couldnt drive ducks to water.get you a car and we'll see how you stack up,then maybe you can get on here and talk like you know something.i didnt run the car at MCS because my brother has money in my operation and he wanted to try it out at monky city, trace offered to help him out so we went up there, not that it is any of your business, but that is why.fact is i could care less what you think,i know what i do,i know where im going,im the one racing doing what i love.your the one setting on your duff in the stands wishing you could race.see ya around...(i wish)

trace-everybody has motor trouble's,no matter if they run a crate, limited,or super.motors blowing is a part of racing, all you can do is pick back up where you left off and go from there.your new motor shouldnt have any probs.

question i do have about the crates and something i been wondering about is.how are the tires working?how long are they lasting and what kinda heat are they building?

fj6roadrunner--i went back a few months and found a couple more post where you were giving someone else greef over wanting to be a big dog.you need to get a damn life and get over yourself.fact is i have gotten a few pm's from a few poeple saying your modified was the slowest thing to hit the track,so why are you on here running your chops like your some damn superstar when your actually a zerostar..get a life you damn jacka s s....

now i am actually interested in hearing about the crate tires from my last post//
