Curt Allen is Tim or Tom Ratajczyk's Father in law. Curt used to drive the 93 for his dad Ray.

IF SO IT MUST BE TIM'S. TOM'S WIFE IS TINA(KLEIN).

OOPS! SORRY DIDN'T SEE 441'S POST.

Rowdy Rick, thanks for the memories

I do want to get a message to Rowdy Rick Rowland. Tell him thanks for the memories from all his fans, and ask him if he is still a big Cardinal fan!!?? Yes I knew Rick personally and also played high school baseball with his step brother Terry Finley. Thanks Jason for the information.

Thanks also for those who sent me offline messages about my questions. Some of the news I found out wasn't good, but at least I know now. Still can't believe the Mike Sonderman death as he was one of my favorite young drivers and gave us many thrills.

Ambrose Kohler had a brother named Tom and I think they may have been twins?? Usually had identical cars too. Thanks Mrs. Bargetzi for all your information too. I bet you could tell some stories from all your memories. If my memory serves me right, Dan Dondero was related to you guys and he still races and does well at Belleville. I thought Dan was Chris' son in law but I could be wrong??

As for Cowboy Basler, I think Darren Forest (not Forester) #20 was a nephew of Cowboys' and could tell us what the Cowboy is up to these days?? Does anyone know anything about Cowboy Basler? Thanks.

The Kohler Bros. Lived Here In The Arnold Area Back When They Raced. Not Sure If They Still Do. I Haven't Ran Into Them Anywhere....lol....i Know For A Long Time When You Drove South On I-55 About A Quarter Mile Past The Arnold Exit. If You Looked Off To The Right, A Couple Of Their Old Racecars Were Junked Out In The Field.

Dan Dondero helped Chris alot, an also had his racecar at Chris's Shop.He also was involved with Rich Wolfmier when Tammy Bargetzi raced at B-Ville I beleave she was co-champion in the Mid 80's.

Don't think Curt Allen is related to the "Rat" gang. Just drove for Poppa Ray. Going way back, anyone know or rember Loyd Taber from Rolla Mo. Long time racer at Potosi race track from Rolla Mo.?

How about #69 Ray Ethridge? I think he drove a beer sponsored sportsman like Coors or Stroh's at SCS. He won a lot of races also and then disappeared from the area. Another racer I've not heard in a while is Bobo Bob Nelson who drove the #1 modified at SCS. Remember a yellow chevette looking car and one of the first mods with seat in the middle. I think he also was the only mod with automatic transmission??

BO BO is co owner of body works ltd. in St Charles Mo. I Beleive the car is still sitting in the parking lot in frt of the shop.

Hey DonnieD---

Curt Allen is related to the "Rat" family. His daughter Cindy is married to Tim. And yes, he did drive for Poppa Ray, and they were all friends.

Thanks for the kind words, but before you get to asking questions, there was another Mrs. Bargetzi--and please don't put me in the same catagory. I do believe she was the root of some of those problems in the years gone by. I have been married to Chris for 24 years, and have a lot of memories, some good--some bad, but back in those years, it really was fun for the most part. There is so much money involved anymore, sort of takes the fun away. I will try and get some of those old pictures up and share with everyone--finding the time is another. Give me a little bit, promise to do this soon.
dixie :)

Another driver you may have wondered about is #24 Chip Thomas who was once and up and coming star who raced Tony Stewart, Kenny Irwin Jr, Jeff Gordon, and other USAC stars. His parents own the Rod's and Racin' shop in Belleville and you can stop by there and ask what he is doing these days. Last I heard he was living in Springfield, Illinois area and working there. He did marry and they have a son. Chip even raced a USAC car at Gateway before retiring from racing. Remember him now?

How about Herman the German Handradt? Whatever happened to him? I seem to recall when I was small that he lived just outside of the Belle-Clair Speedway and would drive his car to the track instead of hauling it. Anyone else recall that? He was #68 and always ran a Dodge. Usually a Gremlin style body. Once was blue but then changed to yellow in later years. I have not heard his name in years. If anyone knows where Herman is tell him he's missed.
