WARTBURG, TN (July 4, 2007)—Anthony White of Clinton, TN showed dominance during the 70-lap Shoney’s Independence 70 at Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, TN on Wednesday night July 4, 2007 in route to the $10,000 payday in front of the largest crowd ever assembled at the East Tennessee race-track.

White went to Victory Lane seven previous times this season along with the Wednesday night special event win driving the Stone Plus, Freddy White Masonry, Mike Ruble Auto Body, Clinton Muffler, Snap-On Tools, Allstar Performance and White’s Total Performance sponsored Racetek powered DWB Pontiac Grand Prix. The 34-year-old driver also has one other $10,000 victory in his eleven year dirt Late Model career which came during the 2001 campaign at the Big South Fork Raceway in Huntsville, TN.

With an outstanding second place run in the main event to White, Lancing, TN driver and Wartburg Speedway regular Curt Williams drove to another top-five finish in the Morgan Pro-Hardware, Waterworks Plumbing, CKR Carpentry, Williams Racing Enterprises sponsored Williams powered DWB Monte Carlo. The 36-year-old driver has finished in the runner-up slot only one time during the season at Wartburg Speedway, that coming as a second to White earlier in the season.

Dash winner Stacey Boles and Anthony White would bring the 20-car field down to Chief Starter Clifford Brabson’s green flag for the start of the 70-lap main event with White going to the point early in the event nudging Boles out of the top-spot and leading the first circuit.

The first of several yellow flags would come out on the fifth lap for Freddie Dutton slowing in turn four. White is still the race leader at this point with Boles second, Curt Williams third, Billy Ogle Jr. fourth, and Ricky Arms fifth.

Williams would make a pass on Boles to get the second place spot on the tenth lap with White still out front. Caution would wave again on the 13th circuit as Steve Smith stopped in turn two. On the 20th lap, Billy Ogle Jr.
would rocket around Boles for the third spot in turn four as White still showed the way on the bottom with Williams running in second.

On the 27th lap, Georgetown, TN driver Skip Arp brought out the yellow flag as he stopped his # 97 in turn four. At this point, White is still out front with Williams second, Ogle third, Boles fourth, and Arms fifth.

The field would stay clean and green until the 55th lap as Freddie Dutton stopped in turn two. He left the track and was finished for the night. On the restart, Ruben Mayfield spun in turn two bringing out the final caution of the night. At this point, White was still out front with Curt Williams second, Ogle third, Boles fourth and new fifth place runner Randy Weaver was fifth. Weaver completed the pass for the fifth spot just a few laps earlier and held off the position until the end of the 70 lap affair.

White went on to take his second career $10,000 victory with Williams taking an impressive second place finish, Billy Ogle Jr. third, Stacey Boles fourth and Randy Weaver fifth. Ricky Arms, Wisconsin’s Dan Schlieper, Perry Delaney, Matt Henderson and Kayne Hickman completed the top-ten.

In preliminary action, Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN was the fastest of 25 entrants on hand from three states represented taking a 12:474 lap. The Dash winner was Stacey Boles. Heat race winners were Ricky Arms and Dan Schlieper. The two track provisionals went to Tim Damron and Ruben Mayfield.
