Why USRA? Click here for my BJ McCammon Interview

Great interview with Route45 raceway! Sounds like these guys are trying what they think is best. Much respect for blazing a new trail in this area.

Any chance of a USMTS race?

Maybe Paducah ought to give it a try. That would give the racers a Friday & Saturday night track. From the car counts PIR had last year, it's apparent UMP is not working out as well as in the past.

It may be the area they are in, but why not take the risk. I don't think it could hurt these tracks much if they are only getting 10 cars per class. They are losing money as it is, might as well take a chance and do something different. Good luck Route 45!

Area has everything to do with the success of any track. Try drawing SLM under the UMP sanction to a rural area and afford the purse and all the other costs. That's a fast track to going broke. Good luck to them.

seems funny Attica Oakshade Peoria Quincy Farmer City and Fairbury etc do alright route 45 and PIR do not run Supers on a regular schedule

Quincy population 45000, Flora/Effingham 17000. Net 28000 more than Flora/Effingham combined.

Champaign IL pop (closest to Farmer City) 85000 Flora/Effingham 17000. Net 68000 more than Flora/Effingham combined

Attica--Mansfield OH nearest to track population 45000, Flora/Effingham 17000. Net 28000 more than Flora/Effingham combined.

don't be so stupid accoding to your theory every track in the St louis area would be packed , explain tracks like Knoxville and Eldora getting large crowds explain Danville struggling and with the price of gas going down distance is not even a concern either you want to go not population for rossburg ohio 200 flora 4800 in the plus all these cities with an hour of PIR and yet they struggle

77 miles? You think that 77 miles is "close" to a race track? You have a very different definition of "catchment area" for an entertainment venue than just about anyone else I know. Good thing you're not a promoter, you'd open a track in a field 50 miles from the nearest town and wonder why you're going broke. lol

Dude, I live 80 miles from Fairview Heights and its an all day Saturday trip to go hit all the malls and we make sure we have a list before we set out early in the morning so as not to waste time/money on gas, and 60 miles of that is interstate. I sure as heck would not load up a family of four and hit the road for a 90 minute drive through the country on two lane roads, speeding up and slowing down at all the towns, for a 4 hour night at the dirt track and then have to drive all that way back home at 1030 at night.

Try driving from Harrisburg IL to Flora IL. It's an hour and 45 minutes, all on 2 lanes, through the country towns. Pulling a race car on a trailer add another 30 minutes and $60 in gas round trip.

Try getting across the river from Jackson, MO or Sikeston, MO or Paris, TN into IL and to Flora. Its' one bridge near Cape, unless you drive to St. Louis and come down 64.

And here's a big hint for you so you know how I know.... I live pretty much smack dab in the middle of all the places on your list and I drive to, from and through most of them regularly. It ain't interstate. It aint convenient, like Peoria is right next to.... Peoria. Or Quincy is right next to...Quincy.

Next stupid comment, please.

My theory isn't that Stl tracks should be packed.

My theory is its a darn sight easier to draw fans to a track when there are larger populations of people near enough to the track to draw from.

Saying look at Eldora or look at Knoxville, they are packed is like saying look at Daytona.

Yeah, for certain races, they are packed. But check out a weekly show at Daytona... oh wait... there isn't one.

I am pretty sure everyone else was quite capable of getting that. Most of the time Fred it isn't everyone else that is having a problem with what other people have to say. It's just you.

WELL---Fayette co. has some of the best racing but no crowed--Highland also puts on a good show-the crowed is steady but not big enough to make the fair board any money ---Bellville is the place to be for open wheel events--packed pits and not packed stands--tricity has always got a good crowed and if you like raw speed that's the place for it---can not comment of I-55 as I did not race there last year and although all you ALLIED bashers rip them they still put on a well run show-----peoples tastes change --perhaps that is why the crowds are down--as a business person that sell goods to the public I would tend to say the economy has a lot to do with the lack of butts in the seats

bingo fireball oval track racing is not in favor any more they want tractor pulls and such now how in the heck will a new sanction help this out Try driving from Harrisburg IL to Flora IL. It's an hour and 45 minutes, all on 2 lanes, through the country towns. Pulling a race car on a trailer add another 30 minutes and $60 in gas round trip. but try this there are drivers from quincy come race n the st louis every weekend and they pass how many tracks if they want to race or watch they will travel , try 7 hour round trip to eldora or union kentucky makes your little trip thru ill pretty pawltry doesn't it , kinda hard to have a weekly schedule when you have 28 dates for the summer at Eldora they don't want a weekluy show because it would hurt the other tracks around them but of course tnie has never been there its not in his back yard st louis have a large population yes according to your theory it should be packed but why is it not

Lack of car count at PIR equates to less fans in stands. Why less car counts, I say UMP has to shoulder the majority of the blame. Crate engines, or low cost engines, have to thrive for rural tracks to survive. Tech is imperative for that to work and UMP doesn't tech except weight.

didn't they have a crate class same with route 45 and some for get there is another track and hour a away in Charleston ll and highland is only 70 miles away yeah its to far for tnie but for many a racer or fan its not
