World 100 -------Notes and Observations----Sept. 10,2011 .

Race Day Weather----- Great !!

Track conditions------The usual---smooth---however—same old thing; you could plant a small vegetable garden with the dust /dirt on your clothes and car that you carry out of the place. It never fails; the dust condition during the feature is very unpleasant. My 18th year of the race; so YEH, I’ll be going back for more torture!!!!

Races----the heat races are always the best races on the program, bar none—Jimmy Owens stunk up the feature (in a good way, I like Jimmy) but he was in a different zip code then the rest of the field!!!! This kid is gonna win a ton of World 100’s--- The race for 4th thru 11th was the only racing going on this year—IMO

Cell phone service-----****S if you have AT&T. I guess if you have Sprint you do ok. (Now why would I think that??? Duh !!!! Come’n Tony, You can do better then this !!! How about a tower on the property???

Main Bathrooms under Grandstands-----DISTUGUSTING-- Men’s----TERDS everywhere in the bowls
(No porters or janitors in the rooms like before; stench was terrible. You better hit the head in the motel or camper before you need to use the crapper at Tony’s. Come’n Tony, you can do better then this!!!!

112 cars checked in (only)---- economy must be taking its toll on the racing community.

No Missouri driver entered this year.

Eldora could use some more free parking, but tearing down Earls old house and barn are probably off limits!!

Traffic control is needed after the race going south on 118; Rossburg and Ansonia need a “Pass Thru”” cop on duty!!!

As always, our trip to Eldora (2nd this year; Kings Royal earlier) was worth it, notwithstanding the above noted issues.

Yeh, we’ll go back next year. If they have a World 100 at Eldora, We’ll be there, Lord willing!!!

Yep that's Eldora the dust ****s. I have been taken the bus trips out of St. Louis for years now and that usually fixes the terd, parking and traffic problem and don't haft to worry about my personal car breaking down or a place to sleep. BUT no matter how you get there the races like you say were and are always great. How about that Shepperd guy making the show and wheeling it as good as he did. (Yes a lot of cars broke but that's part of the game, he out lasted some of the best)
Tearing down Earl's house? Humm NOT that's part of the history. I would love to go to the Kings royal. Is the place as packed as the world?
Great report thanks :)
Oh ya your right TONY you need to get with it.

yeah its dusty big deal its the BIg E alot of the racing was over the top those last ten laps wow,car count down what track had large car counts this year ,the young guns are going to be tough I missed seeing Earl

Unsanitary facilities? There is no excuse for nasty bathrooms at Eldora! No health inspectors in that County or what???? YUCK

Hey I know its only September but by chance are you guys doing The Dream and the Prelude bus trip? Would be interested in going on the bus thing for the first time. Kent let me know when you guys find out about this trip please. Thanks

Health Inspector? Really? Are you kidding? I'm betting they were clean before some hoosier dumm azz went in there and pissed all over the seat and did not flush his crap. Really kinda makes one wounder how people live at home. Hope those same people had to crap later and have no where to go but in the paints. It's not only there but just about every where you go someone always has to do that.

Brandy I will let you know but I'm guessing just the World 100. I know they most likely will not go for that long (Prelude though the Dream) They have backed it down to 1 trip a year since the customer count is so low. Not many people can afford to go to both the Dream and the World. Not getting deposits in time makes it hard to do. I'm sure they will post something down the road but until then start putting your change in a jar so it's paid by summer. Try for the World if you can but don't count out the Dream just yet.

ok but please try for me. :) I know a lot of people can't do this but in March after all the (most) race tracks put there schedules out I send in my vacation request into work a year early so I know I got it. Good luck hope to see you there.

I had a great time out there again! Glad I didn't listen to the weather channels forcast. The racing was decent. The finish was awesome! My sprint phone had good reception in the campground and the track.
I did have a couple complaints though. It would be nice to have a couple speakers under the jumbotron. I couldn't hear anything the announcers were saying. The woman checking coolers saturday night needed a chill pill. She was not fan friendly at all, and the double file restarts they come up with were dumb.

I thought it was a great weekend. My cell service was bad (verizon), but thats not the tracks fault. I didn't have to use the crapper at the track, but the urinals seemed ok. It seemed a little more dusty on sat then usual, but friday, I was dust free.....Lets talk about friday.... The cars were bad fast, and I have never seen the cushion that low. I was a little confused about what was going on in the last hot lap session (something about making a movie from what we were told). The speakers did stink compared to previous years. Every year I see more and more locals there camping. Camping was tame compared to some years, but we still had a blast. Dizzy bat was hillarious.
Got my rear end handed to me in golf, but still had a blast.
I'll be back for sure, and plans for next year are already in the works. Hats off to mother nature for not spoiling the weekend.

I was standing next to one of the guys doing the filming at the start / finish line and he told me there is a dirt track latemodel racing movie in the works but really did not have time to go into it or say when it would all fall together. They did about 3 or 4 shots from around the infield and from up top on the roof of the grandstands and in the pits. They wanted it to look like they were racing side by side. That's why there were so many retakes. They seemed excited about the outcome. Hope they shot the race. you could have never made a racing movie turn out the way it did in the end. 100% a great finish to this years World 100.

WORLD 100 WEEKEND TO DOUBLE AS MOVIE SET

ROSSBURG, OH (August 25) – Traditionally filled with enough drama to create its own movie, this year’s running of dirt Late Model racing’s biggest annual event, the World 100 at Eldora Speedway, will actually be the backdrop for a major motion picture. Footage from the grandstands, on the track and in the pit area will be taken throughout the weekend of September 9 and 10 and inserted into the storyline of the recently written script.

While full details, including the movie name and starring roles, can’t be released at this time; the premise of the movie can. It is a story of an aspiring grassroots racing mechanic that had his dreams of moving into the ‘big leagues’ shattered in a home invasion. The devastating attack left him paralyzed and down on life. However, in true Hollywood style, the mechanic received a break and actually got to experience the role of his dream, if only for one race.

The producers will be using actual footage from Eldora Speedway, with the Eldora images and likenesses clearly identifiable. If needed, the crews will return to Eldora during the October 9 & 10 UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) Nationals to wrap up the filming.

Eldora Speedway, and specifically the World 100, was chosen by the producers due to the highly recognized impact the event has on the industry and the tremendous outpouring of support from race teams and race fans.

This will mark the 41st annual running of the World 100, with $44,000 and the famed globed trophy on the line. New features being incorporated into this year’s event include 30 starting positions and the advent of double file restarts.

Event information and ticket purchasing options are detailed on the track’s website – www.eldoraspeedway.com.

You got that right!!!!!!!!
