World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series At a Glance: Paducah International Raceway Saturday, May 10

WHAT
• Craig Dollansky and Jason Meyers lead the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series into Paducah International Raceway on Saturday, May 10 for a thrilling night of racing. The two drivers who hold down the top two positions in the series standings have combined to win five of the first six races this season. With two-time defending series champion Donny Schatz, along with 20-time titlist Steve Kinser, and Joey Saldana, along with 15 more of the greatest sprint car drivers in the world right on their heals, Dollansky and Meyers will have their work cut out for them at Paducah International Raceway. The full racing program will feature hot laps, time trials, heat races, the Crane Cams Dash, the Last Chance Showdown and an A-Feature that will see the winner take home $10,000.
WHEN
• On Saturday, May 10, the Pit Gates will open 3:00 p.m. Central, while the Grandstand Gates will also open at 3:00 p.m. Central and time trials are tentatively set for 6:00 p.m.

• PIR is located in Paducah, Kentucky. I-24 to exit 11, then 0.4 miles south on Husband Road (SR 1954), then 1.9 miles east on Lyndon Road (SR 3075), then 1.3 miles south on Oaks (SR 450), then 0.9 miles west on Shemwell Lane (near airport)

TICKETS
• On Saturday, May 10, adult grandstand tickets will be $30, with tickets for children 12 and under just $5. Reserved seats are available by calling (270) 898-7469 during regular business hours.

ABOUT THE TRACK
• PIR is a high-banked 3/8-mile oval. The track record of 13.357 seconds was established by Jac Haudenschild on April 17, 1998.

In addition, PIR will be adding three of its local divisions: the UMP Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, and the Super Cell Mini Sprints.

And, it’ll be a double-header weekend of racing at PIR. A regular Friday night of racing is scheduled for May 9. On the Friday program are heats and features for the UMP Late Models, Modifieds, Crate Late Models, and Street Stocks, along with the 4 cylinder Warriors and double features for the Vintage Racers. Also on Friday, PIR will salute all Moms. Each Mom will receive a complimentary rose or carnation courtesy of the Rose Garden of Paducah.

NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of co-owners as a partner in September of 2006. In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval will host several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights of Stars, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge.
