NOTEABLE
With the eyes of the dirt Late Model world focused on the “13th Annual Show-Me 100” at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains,MO over the weekend, the majority of the “Dirty Dozen” race teams entered the event. And, they did quite well placing three members in the top five finishers and four members in the top ten finishers. Below is a synopsis of how the drivers fared at the $39,000 to win event.

Scott Bloomquist, driver of the No. 0 Miller Bros. Coal/Hawkeye Trucking Bloomquist Chassis/Custom Racing Engine For Taurus
The defending World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series champion rebounded from a horrendous weekend (5/20-5/21) with the WoO Stacker 2® Late Model Series, two blown motors at Brushcreek (OH) Motorsports Complex and a no-show at Tri-State (IN) Speedway due to mechanical problems with the hauler, with his third straight and fourth career “Show-Me 100” victory. Bloomquist won his qualifying heat race to make the event and then overhauled Dan Schlieper on lap 16 of the 100-lapper leading the rest of the way for the win.

Clint Smith, driver of the No. 44 JP Drilling/CSR Aluminum/Turkey Creek Snacks GRT Race Cars/Racetek Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
“Cat Daddy” nailed down a heat race win to qualify for the event then struggled to a 12th place finish.

Rick Eckert, driver of the No. 24 Raye Vest Excavating/J&J Steel Rocket Chassis/Cornett Racing Engines Ford Taurus
“Scrub” finished second in his qualifying heat race to lock down an automatic starting berth in the event. Things didn’t go as planned for Eckert finishing 21st in the rundown.

Darrell Lanigan, driver of the No. 29 Gotta Race/Bert Transmission Rocket Chassis/Cornett Racing Engines Ford Taurus
Failing to qualify for the event through his heat race, Lanigan took the second and final qualifying spot in the 1st “B” main event. Lanigan steadily worked his way to the front ending up 6th after 100 laps. Lanigan made the long tow to Eldora (OH) Speedway Sunday (5/29) for a last chance tune-up prior to the “Dream 100”. Lanigan raced to a third place finish on the high-banked speedway.

Steve Francis, driver of the No. 15 MOPAR Performance Parts/Valvoline Rocket Chassis/Gary Stanton Racing Engines Dodge Intrepid R/T
“The Kentucky Colonel” grabbed the win in his qualifying heat race and drove a steady feature race to a fifth place finish.

Dan Schlieper, driver of the Miller Bros. Coal Co./Hawkeye Trucking No. 9 C.J. Rayburn Race Cars/Pro Power Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Winning his qualifying heat race “The Wisconsin Wildman” started the main event from outside the front row leading the first 15 circuits before Bloomquist took the lead. Schlieper held on to bring his car home in third place.

Billy Moyer, driver of the No. 21 J&J Steel/Banner Valley Hauling/McCarthy’s One Hour Cooling and Heating C.J. Rayburn Race Cars/Pro Power Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo
The current World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series championship points leader surprisingly failed to qualify for the feature field. “Mr. Smooth” failed to make the main event through his heat race and came up just short in a “B” Main.

Chub Frank, driver of the No. 1* Lester Buildings/All Star Performance/Corry Rubber Rocket Chassis/Custom Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
“Chubzilla” had a rough weekend failing to qualify for the main event.

Dale McDowell, driver of the No. 17M Larry Shaw Race Cars/J&J Steel/New Vision Graphics Rocket Chassis/Racetek Racing Engines Pontiac Grand Prix
“Mac Daddy” failed to qualify for the event as well.

John Blankenship, driver of the No. 23 Busch Beer/Walker CAT Rocket Chassis/Custom Racing Engines Ford Taurus
The young second year driver also failed to qualify for the main event but gained valuable experience.

Josh Richards, “Rookie of the Year” driver of the No. 1 Seubert Calf Ranches/A-C-E Metal Works Rocket Chassis/Cornett Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
“Kid Rocket” made his debut at the “Show-Me 100” but failed to qualify for the main event.

Tim McCreadie, driver of the No. 39 Sweetners Plus/A & C Speedworld,Inc. Rocket Chassis/C.C. Performance Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
“T-Mac” didn’t compete at West Plains Motor Speedway but went south to the Dirt Track at Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte,NC last week. McCreadie competed Wednesday in the DIRT Big Block Modified event placing 16th. The 2004 World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series “Rookie of the Year” then competed Friday in the Late Model event placing 20th.

Shane Clanton, driver of the No. 25 SAE Parts/RSDEnterprises,Inc. Rocket Chassis/Custom Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Clanton has been MIA for the past three World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series events after surgery May 9th to repair damage to his left shoulder. Clanton suffered a dislocation of the left shoulder Friday, April 29th during the running of the “ Advance Auto Parts Showdown at Sarvertown 50” held at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver,PA. Contact during a restart jerked the steering wheel resulting in Clanton’s shoulder popping out of place. Clanton tried to put the shoulder back in place but was taken to an area hospital for further treatment and released shortly after. The injury wasn’t anything new for Clanton. He first injured the shoulder playing tight end and defensive end on his high school football team and had problems with the shoulder dislocating since that time.

Clanton returned to his surgeon Tuesday, May 24th for his first post-op visit. Clanton's hopes to be able to rejoin the “Dirty Dozen” when the Series begins the four-race Midwest swing were dashed when the surgeon said another two weeks of recovery would be needed before Clanton would be released to return to racing.

“I hate having to miss these races,” said Clanton. “I want to get back as soon as I can but the surgeon says that if I go back too quick and damage it more it could be 3 to 6 months before I could get back”.

UPCOMING EVENTS
After the four race Midwest swing, the “Dirty Dozen” band of travelers will take a weekend off before heading into the recently announced $20,000 to win “Veterans Appreciation 100” to be held Friday, June 17th and Saturday, June 18th at KC Raceway near Chillicothe,OH. The series then travels to Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville,NY Monday, June 27th, Fulton Speedway in Fulton,NY Wednesday, June 29th and then to Bridgeport Speedway in Bridgeport,NJ Thursday, June 30th. A travel day will get the World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series to Stateline Speedway in Jamestown (Busti),NY Saturday, July 2nd. Delaware International Speedway in Delmar,DE hosts the series Wednesday, July 6th followed by separate events at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown,MD Friday, July 8th and Saturday, July 9th. The long trek winds up at Sharon Speedway in Hartford,OH Tuesday, July 12th.
