World of Outlaws Thunder into Pike County Speedway on March 17

For the first time since the 2005 season, the World of Outlaws will invade the blazing fast 3/8-mile high-banks of Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Mississippi on Saturday March 17.

The series has contested 11 A-Feature events at the track, with seven different drivers claiming a victory. Of the drivers that will be competing on March 17, 20-time Champion Steve Kinser leads the way with two triumphs at Pike County . He won in the series last visit to the track, and he also was victorious in 1997 at the facility.

The native of Bloomington , Indiana won on March 2 to pick up his first win of the 2007 season, and the 534th victory of his illustrious career. He has three Top-10 finishes on the season, and is only 30 points out of the 10th spot in the championship standings. Since 1995, he has led 70 laps at Pike County Speedway.

Donny Schatz, the reigning World of Outlaws Champion and Knoxville Nationals winner, enters the event at Pike County with plenty of momentum. He won the series last event on March 3, and to-date is the only repeat winner in the first seven races of the season. He also won on opening night as part of the 36th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals on February 9. The native of Fargo , North Dakota is the current series point leader on the strength of six Top-Five finishes in seven starts.

Danny Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws Champion heads to Pike County Speedway sixth overall in championship points. He won at the ultra-fast 3/8-mile in 1995. The native of Dover , Missouri , is tied with Kinser having also led 70 laps at the facility since 1995. He began the year with three straight finishes of sixth or better during the Florida DIRTcar Nationals, and has four Top-10 finishes heading into this weekend’s events.

Jac Haudenschild won at Pike County Speedway in 1996. In that event, he came from the fifth spot on the last lap to pick up the win in a wild finish that saw a number of cars having to be towed back to the pits. The fan favorite from Wooster , Ohio enters the event only 15 points out of the Top-10 in the season championship standings. He has picked up three Top-10 finishes in the first handful of events, with one of those being in the Top-Five.

Joey Saldana has led 19 laps at Pike County Speedway in his career, as he searches for his first win at the track. The native of Brownsburg , Indiana is currently second in the point standings, only 24 markers out of the lead. Driving for Kasey Kahne Racing, owned by NASCAR star Kasey Kahne, Saldana has racked up six Top-10 finishes to start the year, including a win on February 23 in California .

Terry McCarl set fast time the last time the series competed at Pike County Speedway, and he enters this weekend, third in championship points. The native of Altoona , Iowa has five Top-10 finishes and is only 68 makers out of the lead as he chases his first series title.

Brooke Tatnell, who is fourth in points, has had a great deal of success at Pike County Speedway in the past. He led three laps in the late going in 2005, coming home in the second spot. The native of San Souci, NSW, Australia currently has six Top-10 finishes on the season. He picked up his first Top-Five in the last series event on March 3, as he continues to gain momentum in his first season driving for Larry Woodward Racing.

Daryn Pittman rounds out the Top-Five in points heading into the weekend. He has four Top-10 finishes on the year, including a very impressive win in the finale of the Florida DIRTcar Nationals on February 11. The native of Owasso , Oklahoma finished second at Pike County in 2003, as he searched for his first win on the high-banked 3/8-mile.

Leading the charge of rookies into Pike County will be Kerry Madsen of St. Mary’s, NSW, Australia . He won his first World of Outlaws A-Feature event on February 10 in Florida . To-date, he has picked up three Top-10 finishes as he sits seventh overall in points and leads the battle for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award.

Craig Dollansky enters the event eighth overall in points, as he seeks his first win of the season. The native of Elk River , Minnesota endured some bad luck in the series last race on March 3. He has four Top-10 finishes in the first seven races, with two of those being in the Top-Five.

Tim Kaeding who won a race in his home state of California last weekend enters the race at Pike County , ninth overall in points. He won his first World of Outlaws race of the season on February 24 also in his home state. He has four Top-Five finishes driving for Steve Kinser Racing, heading into this weekend.

Paul McMahan, driving for two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart is currently 10th in points. He won his first dash of the season on March 3 to earn his first pole position, and he also scored his first Top-Five finish of the season in that event. In addition to this, McMahan set fast time last month when the Outlaws visited him home state of California .

Other top contenders among the record number of cars following the series this season include: Becca Anderson of Delaware, the only full-time female driver with the World of Outlaws, second-year driver Jeremy Campbell of Michigan, veteran Brian Carlson of Indiana, 1995 Rookie of the Year Randy Hannagan of California, second-year driver Justin Henderson of South Dakota, second generation driver Dion Hindi of New Mexico, reigning Rookie of the Year Chad Kemenah of Ohio, Jason Martin of Kansas, California native Jason Meyers, 1999 Rookie of the Year Tim Shaffer, and 2003 Rookie of the Year Jason Sides of Bartlett, Tennessee.

A number of rookies will be in action including: Tony Bruce Jr. of Kansas, Zach Chappell of Oklahoma, Sam Hafertepe Jr. of Texas, Chad Hillier of Washington, and James Mosher of New Mexico.
