World Products Empire State Series headed to Brewerton for Friday show

BREWERTON, N.Y. (July 26) – First-time winners have been grabbing the headlines, but it’s a driver with three top five finishes who leads World Products Empire State Series point standings as the IMCA Modified series heads to Brewerton Speedway for a Friday, July 30 show.

Steadily improving Chris Fleming of Union Springs has finished fifth, fourth and third in tour events this far. He now owns a five point advantage over Howard Jones of Groton and a 14 point spread over defending champion Kevan Cook of Constantia.

All applicable IMCA points will be awarded. Entry fee is $20 and mufflers are required.

Both the pit gates and the grandstand open at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Hot laps are at 6:40 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. for the military appreciation night program.

Grandstand admission is $12 for adults and free for fans 18 and under. Pit passes are $27.

Lyle Smith of Elkland, Pa., and Gary Roberts and Matt Roberts of Afton were winners of the first three series races, at Skyline Raceway, Five Mile Point Speedway and Thunder Mountain Speedway, respectively.

The tour returns to Thunder Mountain on Aug. 15.

Series career wins leader Dale Caswell of Central Square has collected three of his 13 Empire State checkers at Brewerton.
