Concord, NC—July 3, 2010— The World Racing Group and the World of Outlaws family extend their deepest condolences to the Swindell and Gray Families on the passing of Shirley Gray on June 27. Mrs. Gray was the mother of veteran driver Terry Gray and Amy Swindell, who is Sammy Swindell’s wife.

Shirley Gray was a long time supporter of racing in the Memphis-area along with her husband Elmer, who drove for many years. Mrs. Gray could be found at the race track for the better part of 50 years, playing a large role in all of her family’s racing activities.

Sammy Swindell, who is a three-time World of Outlaws champion, was victorious on Thursday night at Huset’s Speedway in South Dakota to earn his 270th career A-Feature win with the series. Terry Gray, who is a multi-time champion with the USCS, has one career World of Outlaws triumph with that coming at his home track of Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas in 1980. Kevin Swindell, who was Shirley’s Gray’s Grandson, has one win with the World of Outlaws, with that coming at Charlotte in 2006.

Services for Mrs. Gray were held earlier this week in the Memphis area.
