Did the track ask for a poll to see how many cars would show up or is this just something to try and get the track to have a play day?

I wish the track wouldn't make the racers beg for a test and tune. Are they only going to have practice if they are guranteed a certain amount of money?

Exactly..I would think they could make some effort for a test and tune for the actual competitors that MAKE the show. 636-479-3219 is the track phone number. Maybe if they receive some calls it'll help.

I think they are just asking to see if it would be worth the effort & expense to have one.

It wouldn't be worth opening if only 5 cars show up, believe it our not there are cost involved even for practice.
You have track prep labor & fuel, electricity for lights, ambulance crew, security, and then theres Insurance.

Gee thanks I am new to racing and I don't understand the costs

be real man, pevely didn't even schedule a playday and they get more cars than any other local track. And don't say the practice for the roundup is a playday either you would have to buy a ump membership to even get on the track.

Have you ever owned and race a car? If u have then u might realize that having a playday saves the racer money by allowing them to work out the bugs before they race. I think pevely can handle breaking even or losing a little money to let the guys who support their track all year have a practice but then again look at their pathetic payout and they called a race 3 days before a cloud was in the sky.

Yes I have owned a race car. About 12 years longer than you have by the way.

And I do agree they need to have a play day if possible.

I was just answering about the poll of whether or not to have a play day.

About the pathetic payout as you call it. I would very much like to see it increased, but you do realize it adds up to about $15 grand a nite, which they pay out even if there is only 50 people in the grand stand. And in case you didn't notice the crowds last year were pretty bad.

As for as this weekend I wondered who would be the first to bad mouth them for calling it off, LoL didn't really expect it to be you though. They would have really caught h*ll if they would have ran heats Friday and had Sat. rained out. I was ready for raising this weekend also, heck I probably would have gambled and tried to get it in but again I wasn't the one with everything on the line.

Glad u agree. Don't act like I am the only one who believes the remarks I made, I just might be the only to post something about it.

Tri-City charges the same amout for admission and even charges less for children to enter the pits and has a hell of a better payout than I-55......I'm just sayin.....=)

pevely must be doin somethin right car count is through the roof each and every night. some of the best drivers in the midwest race at that track and the competition is closer there than any other track. I used to own and drive cars there and believe me no matter where you race you are not gonna get rich. with insurance goin through the roof and the way the economy is goin be thankful that they still only charge 10 dollars to get in the stands. hope to see ya there saturday night big paul

And they are still having dashes too!! Can't say that about I-55

I'm not saying Pevely is the worst track around by any means and you got to be kidding me with the "nobody gets rich racing" as if everyone does not understand this is not a money making sport. My point is this whole playday deal is a joke. They asked for a poll to make sure they get enough cars to make the practice, they did it 2 days before the said practice date and now the poll says there will be around 60 cars there for a wednesday night practice yet its Tuesday and nothing has been scheduled. That is my point, why make the racers beg for something as simple as a practice day, get enough confirmed to do so, then no practice gets scheduled anyways.
