Had a very unpleasant visit from Mother nature this evening in Mascoutah, pic of tornado is on the north end of town near the junior high looking west. And the damage was taken in various areas outside of town.

Glad you guys are all ok..

It looked very ominous out there last nite..(I know I kept looking out my back window on the way home thinking it was following me.). I can't imagine being in the heart of it like you were..

We were fortunate enough to NOT have any inclimate weather at all last nite..It was actually a beautiful evening..

Scary how the weather is different so close by.

Oh Yeah...Awesome pictures by the way!!!!

I guess you can say we're a little crazy, when most people head for the basement, we grab the camera and hit the road.

Jeff and I used to do it alot before he got his license, since he is a NWS trained spotter. Now its Tracey and I and sometimes Sydney if shes around.

Submit that picture to the National Weather Service. Any information they get will help them with severe weather research, and also to classify the tornado, better define it's path, width and duration.

http://www.nws.noaa.gov/stormready/stormmaps/il-cwa.htm

Email the picture, and provide the same information that you did to us to the proper person in the link. They can forward it to the Storm Prediction Center.

And stay safe!

The pictures are hosted at photobucket.com. If you are accessing this site from work, some employment places block access to photobucket. That would be one reason you can't see them.

Jon,

You are not too bright to be out in that strom, but at least you are OK and got some good and interesting pictures.

Any racers out there need a hand with any damages or is everyone OK?

That was good that no one got hurt and there is only damage that can be fixed with time. The time of day that the storm struck it could have caught someone or a lot of people in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Hey Jack P. was you hiding under the covers with a certian person? I won`t even say her name but I think you know who I am talking about haha Just kidding Jack chill out. Haven`t seen you in a few so I had to get a jab in when I can haha

Jack-O,

I have never been known as being very bright.:D

You just have to know what to do and not to do, and try and get in the correct position to intercept it and be safe at the same time. I had my lovely Bride of 28yrs with me and I would not in any way put her in any kind of danger. Although sometimes I try to scare her, which is hard to do...lol

Although this storm in general, started as a normal supercell, it became a "right turner" which gets people in a lot of trouble when chasing, and was very unique as it grew in intesity in such a short distance, along with the backbuilding that took place. The good thing about the right turn though, it spared SAFB and Mascoutah as it became an EF2 when it went just south of town.

Also, I tend to believe along the same lines as Rodney, were you hiding with the "Cookie Monster" ;) , when the storm rolled in?
