You can help the fair win this grant. I know that one of the projects they want to complete is getting a new ticket booth built with restrooms and a concession stand included for the grandstand. They were very close to being in the top 3 last time. If you could take a minute to help out each day from August 13 - 26 it would be greatly appreciated. Below is information that has been shared with us about the grant they are trying to win.

Thanks from everyone at the Highland Speedway!

You can help the Madison County Fair Association win a grant for $15,000. We have been lucky enough to be selected to participate in the STL Grown contest again. We finished strong last time and hopefully with all of your help we will finish in the top 3 this time. Entries receiving the top three most votes during the voting time period will be awarded $15,000 grants from Monsanto. Voting is open to the public, so be sure to spread the word to all your friends and family to vote for the Madison County Fair Association. The voting period is from August 13 through August 26, each person may vote 1 time per day, so remind your friends to vote daily at http://www.stlgrown.com/ or http://www.monsanto.com/stlouis/Pages/grow-STL-contest-voting-form.aspx

The fair is a success because of people like you. Please continue to encourage your friends and family to help out by voting. We really need this grant to survive and continue on. There are several projects that this funding would help start. We are hoping to add air conditioning to the expo hall. Another project we have on our wish list is adding a set of restrooms and permanent concession stand near the grandstand area. We greatly appreciate you taking a few minutes out of your day to help the Madison County Fair by voting. As you know, the three projects with the most votes will receive $15,000 grants from Monsanto. The winning entries and winners will be announced on http://www.stlgrown.com/ on August 28, 2012.

We really appreciate all of your help!

Thank You!

I would buy some new CLAY and replace the worn out dirt that doesn't hold moisture before I'd mess with the concession stand and restrooms. You are a a dirt track not a 4 star hotel. Look at I-55 they have porta ****ters and no one complains.

We have some big plans to work on the track this fall after the race season is completed. We are committed to this project and are already stocking materials and dirt to add and replace on the track.

I agree..add lots of dirt and banking..one groove on the bottom every week makes it difficult to justify racing there more

Even tho I dont go to Highland but maybe 1 time a year I will vote everyday. I will help out any dirt track when I can. This is the least I can do :)

Wait, where are the proposed improvements to the SPEEDWAY? From the post, I gathered that they're wanting to add a/c to the EXPO HALL, and add restrooms and a permanent concession stand near the grandstands. Where will said restrooms and concession stand be located? Doesn't the track already have a permanent concession stand?

We often get comments and requests for handicap accessible restrooms for the grandstand. While the restrooms attached to the chicken barn are available, they need to be updated.

The proposed new restrooms would also include a concession stand that would be open during the race season and during the fair. The ticket booth would be incorporated some how also and it would all be located at the entrance to the grandstand area. Currently there are no concession options for people that cannot navigate the stairs and ramps very well, they have to rely on others to go and get concessions for them.

We would like to thank everyone that is taking the time to vote. The voting period ends August 26th.
